Just purchased a 2002 Ram 3500 with an auto trans. Almost seems that the truck is starting off in a gear other that 1st. Sometimes it does seem to start in 1st - then wants to hang in 1st until I hit ~2800 rpm. I understand that DCx has always had problems with the auto? The truck has 40K miles on it and is scheduled to go into the dealer Friday. Any info???

Much appreciated

Andy

When it does it, turn it off and restart it. Does this get it to shift correctly?

It may be in limp mode.

It could have a bad gov. pressure transducer in the trans.

Don't drive it like this or you will destroy the trans.

Do you know if it has been modified? If the pressure is turned up in the trans it will set a code and put it into limp mode, unless a resisror is added.

Call Bill at DTT 866-504-4002, money is better spent on a good after market transmission. Post where you live and see if someone will let you drive a truck with a performance transmission, before you spend your money on more of the same. Yes the way DC built the 47RE in these trucks is not the best, however that can be fixed by knowledgeable custom rebuilders like DTT. SNOKING
