I currently have my transmission temp sensor mounted in the 1/8" NPT hole in the Mag-Hytec pan. I understand the general consesous regarding optimal location being in the output line to the heat exchanger/trans cooler. In time I will likely relocate my sensor.

My question is if anyone has ever had two transmission gauges mounted on thier rig. One on the output side of the trans. and one like mine in the pan. Just trying to establish a relationship between the two temps.

I will be towing no more than 8K pounds. Does this exceed the capacities of the stock transmission cooling system? Chris

I used to have mine mounted in the mag hytec pan and rarely saw temps over 150, then I moved it to the line going to the cooler and the temps are around 140-45 cruising and 150 towing 7,000 lbs. In stop and go traffic they have been as high as 200.

I have seen up to 210* briefly in the line before. Had to switch to low side on the t-case when backing up the trailer to drop the temps. Other than that, I rarely see over the 140-180 range. Normally towards the low end of that range once the t/c lockup clutch is engaged.
