I had to replace the boost line going to my autometer guage. A local cellular company pinched the old nylon line while installing a handsfree kit.

I replaced it with copper line thinking it would be tougher and would not get pinched. However, the new copper line echoes engine noise back through the guage.

I just wanted to inform members of this incase you had to replace the line. I did get some door insulation and wrapped about 18 inches of the copperline on the motor side. This seemed to have helped drastically however I can need to uninstall the line and wrap more of it.

Or..... you could just go to the local truck parts supplier and pick up about ten feet of "spaghetti tubing" for use in 1/8 inch NPT compression fittings. The tubing I got with my set of Autometer gauges got kinked upon trying to feed it through the firewall. Luckily, I had about twelve feet of tubing from another gauge set that I had once installed in my truck. Other gauge brands use a tubing which is much less rigid and, in turn, doesn't "want" to kink and crimp. The stuff you'll get from a truck parts supplier will be most likely the less rigid type and will only run a couple bucks.

Napa sells bulk boost size tubing any length you want, since it comes on a large spool it doesn't keep trying to recoil up. I always pass the small boost tube through a larger 1/4" tube, it prevents kinking, chafing, cuts, makes it easier pass thought the firewall and most likely would have prevented the problem you had. Trash the copper line it will only give you trouble, diesels vibrate too much, it will eventually leak.
