Worst part of the job was fishing all the wires, tubing, etc down through the fire wall. When I had my 01, I installed the same pod. I removed the factory pillar cover, elongated some holes to run wires, tubing, etc. Then I drilled several holes for the push pins, reinstalled the factory pillar cover and then used the plastic push pins to hold the gauge pod to the factory pod.

The pod stayed in place, no problems. Leave yourself enough slack in your wiring so you can pull the gauge out of the pod should you need to change a bulb. Hope this helps you out.

i actually riveted my pod to my pillar. the hardest part is fishing the wires and stuff through the dash. at least in my opinion.

Both of the replacement a-pillar's offered are pretty poor in my opnion. Neither fits very well, I have tried both. Also from what it sounds like the overhead pods don't fit very well either. I really wish I could go with a cubby hole but I have electronic 4WD switch and nobody makes a 2 guage holder that will fit in there. It is dissapointing since my 01 a-pillar (and the VDO guages) were a MUCH better fit and match than my 05 has been.

I have the 3 space Autometer also and here is what I did. I took the stock cover and cut off the tweeter hump and then used a grinder to fit it to the inside of the Autometer cover, I kept all three of the metal clips from the stock cover. I ground and sanded it down until it nested inside the new one and then epoxied it in, and clamped it with a bunch of spring clamps overnight. It fits so well you can't see any of it at all behind the Autometer pod, and it clips in with the stock clips also. I had to cut holes at each gauge location to allow the wires and tubes through, leaving a flimsy frame. After the epoxy cured it is stiff and straight and fits perfectly and snaps right in.

I kind of cheated on my 99 A-pillar gauge pod. I've got the Infinity speakers, so I've got the speaker hump. I bought an A-pillar cover without the speaker, and used the push pins to hold it together. The gauge cover completely hides the factory cover. Yes, it can be a PITA to get everything lined up, there's not much extra room to work with.

Recently installed this mount on my '98 with Infinity system. Just followed the supplied instructions. Removed factory pillar, cut tweeter buldge with Dremel cut-off wheel, reinstalled factory pillar, slipped (painted to match) Autometer mount over factory pillar, and secured with supplied push-pins. Piece of cake except for running the wiring which you'd have to do with any mount.
