Ok I took the truck out the past couple days and the pyro freaks out!!! it doesnt peg the gauge but it goes below 0* and bounces back rapid between the temp and straight down. this is just driving the truck no beating on it or anything. Now going down the road if you hit the gas a little instead of the pin going up it goes down twords zero. Kinda ticking me off since the gauges are only 2 yrs old or so.

any info guys? is it the gauge or temp sensor?

thanks!

sounds like the gauge is losing power Ian. my gauge goes below zero when I shut it down. I would check the connections on the gauge.

Mark

would that explain this though..... If I let off the gas the gauge comes back up to current temp but if I get back into it the darn thing goes down.

NOW its stuck almost straight down but if I shut it off it goes to about 7-8 O'clock

? Thanks

my pyro was doing something similar to that after i put a htt exhaust manifold on. it turned out the nut holding the probe was loose.

I had just posted a couple weeks ago about my autometer pyro gauge acting stupid. The gauge was sticking on one point and not moving. After a buddy and I checked all connections and power to the gauge, we determined it was the gauge itself, Which is under two years old. When my buddy went to pick up the gauge the guy he talked to said he was having a lot of problems with these gauges and probes. I'm not trying to down this product, this is just my $. 02 worth. I now have a new gauge and moved the probe to the manifold. Everything fine now.

IC SMOKE is the gauge a autometer C 2. That what I have and I have bin having about the same thing happen to me I have a new probe ordered some I will see if that fix it.

Its a lunar series? I checked the studs on the back, both are tight, other connections are good... .

darn gauge anyways!!

Ian

Mine just started the same thing. Mostly dose it when the lights, if i apply the brakes, or with the heater fan on. but sometimes all that doesn't matter.

i have the ultra lite and i had a problem where it just stopped reading completely. I emailed autometer and they had me send them the guage. 1. 5wks later they sent me a new set up.

As some of the others have mentioned, check your connections. I have seen several cases of the connection between the gauge wire and the thermocouple lead where the connection had gotten bad. Take the little nuts loose at the thermocouple lead and clean them real good. I'd be willing to be that will fix the issue.

i just had the same problem last week ... autometer rep said to disconnet the probe from the meter ... the meter went to 60 degrees ... cab temp

so it must be the probe ...

ordered a new probe from genos, got the new probe last night ...

cut the shrink tubing and when i removed it the red wire fell out of the little metal connector ... pushed the wire in and recrimped and the gauge worked fine all day ...

50$ for nuthin'

check them connectors
