Archived Autometer pyrometer

I am currently installing a pyrometer in my truck and the instructions say to hook red wire to 12+. should this wire be to switched or unswitched? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think it matters. The pyrometer probably won't work with the key off if you hook it to a switched source. You aren't worried about exhaust temps when the eninges off.

It should be connected to an ignition on power.

I have the same gauge. Hook it up to a ignition hot wire and the back light wire goes into your headlight dimmer.
