Having trouble with the egt gauge. At times it works fine and then other times the needle goes into erratic mode and sometimes the gauge quits altogether. I have verifed all connections and everything is good. If you have had this problem do you know the cure? Thank you for any help!

Yep, had the same problem. Sent it back and they sent me a good one. Worked great eversince. Had a bad box.

I have heard that some people have had problems using the street series EGT probe from autometer. Jannetty racing will not sell an EGT gauge & probe unless you use the competition probe. It's more expensive but worth it for foolproof readings.

This might be your problem.

Actually i've got an ultralight egt gauge freaking out on me as well. And i'm using the comp probe. I emailed autometer about it and they wanted the gauge, box and the probe to work on it. Don't know why they'd need the probe. If i can figure out a way to plug the manifold, i'd already have it sent off.

Same thing with me. They said they needed the box and gauge because they are matched. Sent me another complete new gauge set no questions asked. I put it in and it has worked great ever since.

Autometer Pyrometer

I agree with Larry B, you just have a bad one. I have a Z-series Pyrometer with a street probe. No problems.

My probe uses a 1/8" NPT connection. Very easy to find a plug for. Don't forget to Nevr-seez it so you can get it back out. :D
