I was looking through the Autometer homepage and it appears the Z series looks the most like the stock guages with black background, white numerals and orange/red needles. I will be wanting the electrical not mechanical as well. Has anybody bought this seris boost, pyro and fuel pressure gage along with their 3 gauge Apillar with tweeter? What do you think of these guages and Apillar? I have not called yet but about what does all the above cost? Don't give exact number estimate will do!!:D I am thinking of calling them Friday to order put all your guys help be appreciated!!!! :)

A few things. First, get your Part numbers from Autometer, then get the gauges from Summit Racing or another discount place. The Autometer Sport comps look close to stock, especially if you get the Black bezels on them (Ask Automter for a specific Part #) you can then get blue or green bulb covers and your lighting will be perfect. The "Z" series from Autometer are good gauges, there are several posts regarding them. The Sport Comps are a little better quality then the Z series. But for a Ram application there fine. I have the "A" pillar mount with the tweeter in my Ram. Fits nice, i put a screw in the top though just to be sure it wont come loose though.

I have the 2616 0-30PSI boost and the 2654 Pyro. Both are great. These two gauges and full piller pod cost ~ $200. The Pyro is so new when I ordered it from Summit they had to set the part # up for me. I also ordered a second type "K" thermocouple last week. From Summit it cost $56. 40.

Great gauges but you'll probably have to wait awhile for the pyro.

I just installed the Z-series electric fuel pressure gauge, part # 2661. It reads 0-15 and is a full sweep gauge. A little spendy but very accurate. Matches the factory gauges and my previously installed VDO's quite well. I do get a little needle vibration and am planning on trying remote mounting the sender to see if that helps.

I have the Autometer Z-Series pyro, trans temp and boost gauges in an A-pillar mount in my '94. I used the green light bulb cover and I think they look like my original dash instruments and I'm happy with them. I purchased mine from Diesel Injection Service and I can say they are GREAT to work with. :D :D

GKR~little spendy? $175 is a lot spendy :( No will have to decide if I want to use mechanical fuel gauge bring fuel inside my cab, NERVOUS!!!! Any thoughts on mechanical?

Autometer makes a Mechanical gauge with an isolator that mounts in the engine compartment so no fuel ever enters the cab. Last i checked, it was about $95. 00 for the gauge, Isolator (Which is really nice looking) and line to go from the gauge to the Isolator. All you need to supply is line to go from your fuel source to the isolator.

As for which is better?. Mechanical gauges are generally more accurate and require no power to operate, (just for the lighting). But in a truck application, either will work fine.

Okay decided to go electric fuel gauge and not take the chance fuel in cab problems. Here is the list of what I am buying Z series Autometer tomorrow from Summit Racing.

ATM17205 3 guage Apillar with speaker

ATM2646 EGT

ATM2661 Electric Fuel Pressure

ATM3207 Blue lens covers

ATM2616 Boost

Is this right or am I missing anything? Remember I will not be bombing. Thanks everyone.

EMDDIESEL~Sorry about 2 places I see you look at all the sites!!!! Thanks for all your help also. :D

Oh another question!!! For fuel guage install on the 2001 could you use the high pressure hose used on refrigeration gauges? It would screw right on the test port and depress the schrader valve I think. Then cut off other end to connect to sender unit barbed connection. Sure it would hold pressure but will fuel damage hose? Is this good idea, bad idea, no one thought of it, somebody thought of it tried it with what results? Any thoughts?

You can use those freon hoses, i use one of them on my test fuel pressure gauges, the only thing about those hoses is they will get brittle over time from heat in the engine compartment. You would better off using the thin clear pressure tubing they use with oil pressure gauges

EMDDIESEL~ Thanks I knew it was to easy!!!!

I think will wait until later in July after a little fishing trip to order the gauges. Reason don't want $400 of guages seating on my front porch when UPS delivers!!!

:D
