ISB Fuel Pump Recall is Official

Fuel Gauge pegged?

Well about 2 hrs invested on every stinkin' Search Engine on the web. And the only Good Automotive Wiring Kit I could find was @ ... ... jcwhitneys

What Gives

I went to countless "YOUR ONLINE SOURCE FOR AUTO WIRING" websites that didnt have crap!

But I was able to get the kit at jcwhitney

1000 piece set with all kinds of stuff Ill throw up a pic of the kit. $29. 99

http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...tom-0/p-2007738/N-111+10201+600002086/c-10101

Thats atleast is a good start... My brother is always Wipeing out my small kits and I never have what I need to do the job right

Another thing I have learned is DO NOT use pliers to crimp the connectors ... I picked up a good wire crimper at sears for like $15 and it makes the crimp with little to no effort and you cannot pul the wire out and it also dont tare up the insulation on the connectors .

I was also after some good split loom I had previously purchaced 50' from genos buy it was black and I want CUMMINS blue so I went on the hunt and I found a close match @ http://www.wiringproducts.com/?target=dept_90.html

Now thats just about as close to CUMMINS blue as you can get . .

I picked up only 10' of each size it will get me started ... around $20 spent there.

What earks me is out of a billion web sites how could there not be 1 site that has all this stuff . the only place I could really find the taps you had to be a dealer just to buy them and the other just sold them in packs that were like $150 and if they did have the taps thats all they had ... So I gave up..... the JC' kit says it has fues taps ... well I'll see what I get.

I still need these things all @ one site I really dont like throwing my CC# around

ATC & ATM fuses and Taps

Wire Taps / Splicers ... . NO "T" TAPS there are many other kind and I have heard alot of bad about SCOTCHLOC

Where to you guys get stuff like this on the Web ?? I know geno's has the Add a fuse thingy but its kind of pricy... not just at genos that thing is pricy every where

The originator of this said he went all over the net trying to find terminal assortments. If you check with Lawson Products and Email them they could put you in touch with a local agent. This is a company that I worked for for over 20 years. They have many assortments for terminals or you can get an agent to build a custom assortment from there huge selection of terminals. I did this for a lot of people. Most of them come in packs of 25 so you don't have to buy huge quantities of each and they will put these in a handy tray and they will be marked so you will know what to put back in the empty spot. When it comes to "T" taps and scotchlok types of connectors they look nice and are quick to install but I would really not reccomend using them at all. I have seen to many instances where they cut the strands of wire under the wire coating even if you match the color of terminal to the gauge of wire being used. My last problem was when I bought the truck from Dave Smith motors last July I had them put in the A pilar gauges just so it was done then. I could have done them myself but figured that it was done at the dealer and would be done right. RIGHT. Last December I was installing my Prodigy brake controller and needed 12V. When I removed the panels under the dash there is a large bundle of wires near the steering column and there was a large blue wire that they had picked for voltage to the gauges. This wire only has power when the engine is running not with just the ignition switch in the on position. So this wire supplies a lot of power under the dash. When I opened up the "T" tap connector I discovered that it had cut in half more than half the strands in the wire. I stripped some the insulation back and soldered the 2 wires to the main power wire and repaired the break and a with a little black tape completed the job. If you talk to any long time mechanics they will tell you most of the real pain in the neck electrical problems they have encountered have resulted from these types of connectors. The best way, but yes it is time consuming, is to strip and solder the wires and never have a problem. A lot of the real cheap connectors have vinyl sleeve on the crimp barrel, I would only buy the nylon connectors if you have a choice. The vinyl sleeves tend to come off or loose when crimping and do not hold up in cold weather. Just my $. 02.

I'll second Waytek Wire. I use them for most of my basic wiring supplies. I don't buy kits because I'm very particular about what kind of stuff I want. Waytek has excellent service and they carry a lot of nice stuff. But you will pay for it.

I've been using spiral wrap, self-fusing silicone tape, and heavy-wall expandable sleeving instead of split loom because I feel it's all much tougher.

I never never never never not ever use any kind of tee-tap products. Post #4 on this thread discusses my ideas when it comes to tapping into existing wires. This is just my method, and lots of people have other methods that they feel are better or serve their needs better.

I use Newark or Mouser for circuitry stuff.

Only one place for me... . Terminal Supply Company. They have several branches all around... and for me one in Indy. They have all the automotive stuff you could want. . including strange terminal ends, MetriPack connectors, factory wire plugs-pins, wire, tools, relays, etc etc etc. Good prices, fast shipping, and you can talk with real folks on the phone.

I've ordered over $2000 in the last six months from them for our Vol Fire Dept. I have not had one problem.

Terminal Supply is great. They have a local branch for me as well :D

I'm sure they could send anyone out a catalog and you could order by phone. Their catalog is pretty thick with a lot of products and decent pictures of the products.

I get most of mine from McMaster-Carr, also Marine places have good stuff, I usually pick up a few odds and ends from WestMarine.

Thanks TDR

IS Awesome But there is a certain way you should go about it...

-Go to the link

-Request a Free catalog

-Wait on the mail man

-Grab your catalog,, a Marker ,,a bud light and a lawn chair ,,, Tail Gate works good also

-Now start at the front And go from front to back and put a mark beside the ITEM Numbers you want

-Finish the six pack and make your way to the computer

-Go to the link and click on the products/Shop Online Button

-Now this is where you bring up your computers caculator

- Flip to your first item and insert the item number and hit go

- Now the prices are screwy They are listed like 0. 05823 ... . you know thats about 6 cents a piece. . minimum order of $5 PER ITEM so just divide 5 by . o5823 its like ... . 85. 8663918... . Type in 86 in the order Quanity and hit OK (OR WHATEVER) then click back on the item number search and repeat. I ended up at $80 and I have TONS of stuff comming

The Catalog is even screwy the items have no price beside them . . you have to search the back of you catalog for the price. . But Other than messing with this Its a great Company ... come to think of it once I was done I soon realized that it was all worth it and there is probly no better way to get exactly what you want .

I Pitched the Crappy Case my First kit came in and went to wally world and got the plastic containers made for Bait ... there made real good . . way better than the JC kit.

And to anyone wanting to get a good supply of connectors the #1 thing you need to do is get a set of Real Crimpers do not use pliers and second thing is Get to Know WAYTEK

PS:: WEYTEK has Crimpers Also :>

That's odd. It always lists minimum order QUANTITY for me... always has.

I buy only solder on connectors. The local electronics store has a very good selection of them. All wire joints are soldered. I use shrink tubeing for insulating the connectors and butt joints in wire. For T joints in wire I use marine shrink tape. I never use fuse taps. So far, I have never had a joint or connector problem in the wiring I've done. If I need something that the electronic store does not have I order it from Allied Electronics. Very good prices. No minimum order. I bought a ULN2003AN chip for 91 cents from them that I used for a aux tank pump controller I built.

Del City is another great wire products supplier. They have a min. $25 order but its usually easy to meet that. The prices are way cheaper than buying the same products at a parts store. I think the site is www.delcity.net

There is wire connector product that is crimpable, solderable, and heat shrinked all in one. It looks like a normal connector but has a bit of solder in the middle, and the insulation is heat shrink instead of cheap plastic. Oo.
