I don't know if this has been looked into before... .
My '95 automatic is stock and for the present state of stock power(plate slid full forward and elbow),I think the shift points are fine. The only thing I don't like is how soon it goes to 4th lockup. While accelerating, once the rpm's get to 1600 it goes into lockup, then you're trying to accelerate in lockup from like 1350 or 1400 rpm. Of course this is hard on the clutch lining.

I would like for it to go into lockup when the rpm's hit 1900 or 2000 which is way easier on the trans. Does anyone know if a resistor can be put inline somewhere to delay the 4th lockup speed?

Mike, you can just put in an "anti-mystery switch" and manually lockout the lockup. I am guessing that this is only happening in light throttle situations?

LSmith,

Yes I can easily put in a switch, but this is my wife's truck and she doesn't want to have to remember to switch buttons while she drives.

Joe,

I didn't know we could fix this by adjusting the cable. But wouldn't affect the other gears? Thanks,I'll try it out anyway.

Mike,

I can remember reading in one of the posts where someone was having problems with early lockup and resulting shudder. If I recall correctly he took his truck to his dealer and they reset the lockup speed to something around 51 mph. It apparently solved his problems.

Mike,

I had this done. It was a PCM re-flash, cost about $60, and might just have been the best thing I've done to this truck! Changes its whole personality. The transmission seems to shift a little better in each gear, goes into OD lockup at 52, and shifts out of OD lockup with less "encouragement. "

I've looked around but can't find the TSB number, but your dealer should know. There are some PCMs (early build dates of the '95) that are unable to take the flash, but it's easy to check out with a PCM reader-thingy the dealer has.

Good luck!
