Hello. I have a 03 2500 QC LB 4x4 48RE and am considering getting an ODB II software solution to read some of the enhanced ODBII parameters: water in fuel, Trans temp, etc.

Autotap claims, with the Enhanced upgrade, to be able to do this.

However, in the notes they claim, "May not work on all 2002/2003 dodge vehicles". The techs at Autotap said there was no way of telling untill you try it; apparently, they changed the signals on one part of the connector? Does anyone know if:

1) Will it work on my 03 and

2) If not, what can I get as an alternative to use with my laptop?

thanks

jeff

NO ENHANCED SETTINGS WITH THE OBD-II

And if you do buy the OBD-II make shure you buy the tricom connector, you will need the tricom to connect to 2004 and up

think future on the trade in for the 2005 truck!!!

Bummer! Thanks for the quick reply and tip. But don't worry;

I'm keeping this truck for 20 years! Well 10 at least and surely not less than 5; maybe 4...

I was just about to order a cable. Since I plan on installing the OBD-iI cable permanently into my truck it looks like standard ISO is the way to go.

Are there any additional parameters that become available with a Tricom (or any other cable) on an early 2003?

Has anybody used the Autotap software? I have a laptop and would be nice to be able to use it for my OBD device.

Thanks

As I understand it (and I've done quite a bit of research on this), unless you've got software that can log your system onto the CAN-bus network, you will not be able to read all the enhanced parameters.

The software I use, at www.obd-2.com , has just recently begun offering a CAN-bus compatible connector. I have not yet bought it, because I don't think they have actually updated their software to take advantage of the CAN-bus communications yet.

So, ask Autotap about their ability to interface with CAN-bus. If they say "no", then don't expect to be able to read everything.

I have Autotap it can read 7 perameters.

Engine temp

Vehicle speed

Engine RPM

Calulated Load of Engine

Intake air Temp

Throttle Position

MAP

It can also see some of the codes. When I got it I had to go their shop and spend some time to get it to work.
