Autozone Brakes 6000 miles

My original brakes lasted 50000 miles, but my Autozone brakes are shot at 6000 miles. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheap, Chinese brakes. I'm afraid if you go to autozone, pep boys, etc. you get what you pay for. Other than that, did you have your rotors turned?

You can buy Performance Friction brakes at Auto Zone, for about $60. 00. Some of the best brakes, but usually takes a day for them to get them in.



Their house brakes though, are totally cr@p.

What would you honestley expect. You try stopping an 8K truck and want to do it through cheap parts. Like was said before, you get what you pay for. Even if you buy the 60 dollar brakes you will find that they squeal and have more brake dust. I Hate to give DC my money for parts but in the case of brakes OEM is the best value for the money IMHO :-{}

The guys are right, I used to be in the automotive aftermarket and some of the parts out there should be classified as "hazardous". I recenlty added Power Slot rotors and Hawk Pads to my truck and was impressed enought that we acquired the distributor rights and now sell them. More braking power, no fade so far, looks good and no warpage either. Something you might consider, and the cost isn't much more and sometimes less than the stock parts if you buy from Dodge etc. I recenly HAD to test them on a trip to Katrina's destruction, I am convinced if I still had the stock parts I would seeing a body shop as we speak! A semi had to run thru the median over a 1/4er of a mile to get stopped and he was 4 vehicles behind me, I even outbraked an Acura, which have pretty good brakes! Thanks the Lord the semi guy was a good driver or I might be 1/4er thick right now!

My original lasted 42,000 miles, I put on the Autozone pads, not the metallic but the best mineral that they had, still going at 115,000 mile. You figure?

You should get together with my brother-in-law. He has a 2000 1 ton ferd that went through 3 sets of brakes before he put the most organic pads he could find on it. So far, so good. I don't know how you two drive, but you must be orphaned twins...

Not offended cept I don't know about being compared to a ferd?? I tow a 12,500 fifth wheel probably 60% of the time. My truck is not a daily driver though. bg

My OEMs wore out at 36000 and squealed.

No problems at all with the PF pads and plenty of miles. You will find many on here that will testify the same.

I switched to egr pads and love them. Little brake dust and can stop on a dime and give change.

get the performance friction pads from autozone, they last TWICE as long as factory, and more than twice as long as standard pads. I pull a trailer in traffic all day every day, its nice to have a set of pads go 40k instead of 18-20k

My 04, now has 144K miles on the factory pads..... pulling a large trailer..... using an exhaust brake all the time..... But we drive the truck like a little old lady with the weight we pull... .
