I am looking into aux fuel tank options.

Requirements: Under the bed (not in the bed)

Fuel pump included or available.

Use existing filler neck (prefered) I don't want to cut sht metal

It would be nice to double my range (I know I am asking alot)

Complete kit, or full list of required part numbers

As light as possible :)

I would like to know what the required mods to the truck are before I buy/start, not after/during (long story).

This is for a 98 12V QC 4X4 auto.

Thanks Gary

check out transferflow.com and auxtank.com, there are a ton. Anyway, I think transferflow makes complete tank replacement kits which will increase capacity, as well as some corner/wedge type tanks. . Their kits are pricey but get great reviews.

AreoTank makes a 60 gal replacement tank. Half the price of transferflow. Just installed one and like the quality of there product.

Transfer flow makes a replacement 55 gal tank and a aft axle - requires spare to relocate - 38 gal tank. If you can live with the spare tire in the bed or on a rack then the aft axle tank is a better buy - $/gal.

I used the Transfer Flow replacement tank, 54 gallons, on my 97 (also the 98 gallon cross bed tank). If you have a long bed club or quad cab, it will work and is an excellent unit. A friend used the 38 gallon aft axle tank and it is great too. Transfer Flow supplies a complete kit so you are not trying to fit stuff that isn't right, or looking for more stuff at the parts house. That makes a big difference when it is time to install the tank. Their instruction sheets are also easy to follow.

I have the 74 gallon wedge tank in my 2004 and will install the 56 gallon replacement tank shortly--so you can tell I am happy with their stuff.

supertanks makes a 60 replacement for the long wheelbase trucks, poly like the stocker not steel like aero or transfer flow. Nice tank, I had aero on my last truck and it was heavy, too heavy and was ok but this is better, no drilling of frame.

Question on Aero Tanks

In an article in the TDR mag, issue 46 page 141, the author Nielson states that he had Aero install a 50 gal tank in his 99 Standard cab long bed truck. I was ready to get the same for my truck but when I stopped by the plant in Corona Ca. the receptionist informed my that they made no tanks for standard cab Dodges. I would really like to know whether such a tank is available and what they use as a fuel level sender. Does anyone have good information?

no tanks for a standard cab:confused: was it an in bed tank?

the replacement tanks use the stock sending unit.

the tanks are the cheapest thing out..... "ya get what you pay for" holds true for them.

No, the tank in the article replaced the regular 35 gal plastic tank with a 50 gal steel tank but the person at Aero claimed they made no such thing!
