Aux fuel tank slosh

I picked up a used 105 gallon inbed fuel tank for $200, I hope a good price :confused: . Will this cause a sloshing problem when not full? I dont want to get sea-sick from a 1/2 full tank.



Second, what about water condensation inside? Is this a problem because the tank will be empty excpet when on the road, I am having a 3/4" drain plug set in the corner.



I also picked up a brand new 12v pump, hose, car nozzle, and mounting kit for $150, is this good/bad price? I plan to add a filter/water seperator inline. There will be no direct connection to the fuel system in the truck because once in a while i will bring off road diesel home for the tractor.



Suggestions?

I never noticed fuel slosh when I had a bed mounted tank in my Isuzu P'up, and that was a much lighter truck. Don't know anything about tank prices, I wonder if died fuel brought home for farm use would taint taxed fuel bought on vacation????

I wonder the same thing so I plan to keep the dated receipts and put the mileage on them as proof of what I bought.



No law against using the take for both uses.

That's a steal on that tank! I looked into just 35 and 60 gallon tanks myself back when diesel was so cheap in KY (20 minutes from me) and they wanted around $300 brand new (maybe more :confused: ) at the local Tractor Supply Store.



For 105 gallon tank you STOLE THAT!



As far at the kit I don't know what to tell ya. :eek:
 
Tejas, can't help with your prices, but I have a suggestion for your drain. Put a valve on the drain line so you can attach a hose to the drain before opening it up. That way, you can run the contents of the tank into a can or something else with much spill at all. If you weld on a threaded bung and plug it, you will have to pull the plug first, then avoid the spewing contents. HTH.

Good price for the pump hoses and nozzle. Make sure you use a filter, the bigger the better. You paid less for the tank than a new one cost so you did save some money. I found a 105 gal L tank for sale along the road for $15, good condition. alonzo
 
A couple of thoughts.

I have a 100 gal rectangular fuel tank with no baffles. I only use it for off road so the level varies depending on the season. I only get a little gentle rocking while stopping. I never felt any "push" while stopping.



My pump's lift pipe is scalloped so I never get the last inch of fuel out. That would definetly dye highway fuel on my application.



Fuel tanks are best kept full. Since you don't want to, add an additive when you fuel.



I had seepage even with fuel rated teflon tape. I use good old Permatex #2 (I think it is) for my large fittings on top of the tank else I have a mess.



I still have plans to replace mine some day using an aluminum saddle tank off a truck. I looked at a couple but they were not the right size.
