I am in the market for a combo. Nothing real fancy, just a 50 gallon or so with a modest amount of storage space in the box.

What do any of you have?

How big are they?

How much $$$$ ??

Most of all, would you recommend yours to others??

Lastly, anyone have one they are looking to get rid of??

BTW I havent had any luck looking up past posts. I be cumputor ignant. :D

sdalton, I have one if it will fit your needs,it is custom built, steal with black spray on linner on it , it is 52 " long 24" deep and 20" tall. it holds 52 gallons of fuel and the tool box is about 10 or 12 " deep. it has a pump with transfer hose and nozzle included,I used to fuel my backhoe with it . I have 800 into it and would settle for 400, the problem is getting it to Texas ? If interested let me know. Kevin

Does anyone know where you can get one (with or without a tool box) for around $500? The Aero and Transerflow ones are too much $$$.

Try AMERICAN TOOL BOX CO. at www.auxtank.com or 1-877-485-3359. They are located in Frisco, TX. Their prices are like everyone else. $$$

Or try Tractor Supply Co. They have tanks. But these would require some modification.

Good luck.

Transfer Flow

I have a transfer flow that I installed about 3 weeks ago. I love it! The fillups are a little expensive though. :(

The installation was fairly straightfowrard. I picked mine up from one of the local installers and put it in myself. It took me a few hours to do, since I had done a few things to get ready before actually doing it. I found the hardest part of the install for me was getting the holes though the bed.

Try Northern Tool. They have one for $479, has 60 Gal capacity. Item #349000-B959.

Try northerntool.com

Very nice looking box. This might look like a keeper to me.

I saw they had it priced at $459 when I logged on.

SDalton, I just instaled one of the Northern tanks, 60 gals with tool box. I have only run two tankfulls thru it but so far so good. If you want the particulars on how I mounted it, e-mail me.

I used to FSV3 fuel valve from Borge Warner, and recommend this on over the others because it stands 60 psig. The system should have little pressure on it, but in this Texas heat I am not sure that the system does not see some pressure due to termal expansion.

I have only run about 50 gallons out of the 60 gallon tank for fear of sucking air when the tank leans away from the feed. I did not rig up a fuel gauge on the aux. tank because I plan on running a set number of miles and then switching.

Good Luck Big John

aux tank

I have 90 gal tank from northern tool paid $499 has tool box above tank. I travel 1200 miles before refueling. Also installed borg/warner fuel sending unit approx $15. and high pressure tranfers valve approx $55 both from jcwhitney. just planning fuel stops will pay for this set up within two years.

Big John and Atomicnh where are the fittings on the box? Does it have baffles, and if not how does the truck feel without them? How does the quality seem? Atomicnh, does that sending unit work ok with the stock guage?

Thanks in advance.

Big John and Atomicnh, Please send all information on the parts neeeded and any problems you have had installing your units. I plan on tackling this by myself. If you have pictures, that you be great. HMMM, Alvin TX. Not too far away. Maybe we could meet so I could see you finished product. :D

I HAVE ONE LEFT!! I bought 4 of the Combo Tanks from Northern Tool. I have one 60 gallon unit left. The Northern folks do not tell you in the catalog that they also charge $124 for shipping... ... ... Hello? I have $483 in the one I have left. If I do not sell it before the next Texas Ramboree, I'll take it there to sell. First come, first served!!!!!!!

I would have posted sooner, but I couldn't remember the brand name. I have an older version of the 50 Gal tank/tool box sold at Camping World. It has now been repainted and is on it's fifth truck.

One word of caution, it is a steel tank and I picked up some rust on the inside. I took it to a shop that coats the inside with a fuel resistant coating and guarantees the results for life. You would not have this problem with an aluminum unit.

JSCHOOLEY, SO, Would you do the whole thing over again, or go with the aluminum unit?? Is the steel model secure?

Is the tool box steel also? I like the idea of steel, but no the rust involved. Sounds as if it might take a couple of hundred extra just to get it ready for the long haul.
