Hey,

Who has an aft aux. fuel tank for my 2001 2500 club cab/short bed?

Looks like TransferFlow only has one for the long bed.

Thanks for any information,

Chris

I believe you are correct... Transfer Flow has a 38 gal. auxiliary, aft of axle fuel tank for '94+ Diesel Rams. It mounts in the spare tire location, necessitating the relocation of the spare tire. One really trick idea about this particular tank installation, it shares the same fuel door with the OE fuel fill. By that I mean, once you open the fuel fill door you will see two fill necks side by side. Very first class!

I just installed a Transfer Flow 54 gal. replacement fuel tank (in place of the 35 gal. OE tank). This particular tank is available for LWB QCs and CCs. I'm very pleased with the quality of the product, the installation instructions, and their tech. support (I had a problem which turned out to be the wrong replacement fuel sender).

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another Transfer Flow product in the future. :)

Kingram. Look up the post I started a few months ago on Aux tanks. This might help with your decision. I have filled mine up twice since I installed it. I have had no problems. Mine was a combo box from northern tools. Very good quality.

Gas tank question

On the tanks that go in the bed, do they use the same fuel line as the original tank? How would you fill the higer one without it overflowing to the lower one?

The bed mounted auxiliary fuel tank must be filled at its fill point (in the bed of the truck). The auxiliary fuel tank is then plumbed to fill the main fuel tank manually using a valve or automatically, as is the case with the Transfer Flow TRAX-UFS system controller. In either case, both fuel tanks would be filled separately.

I am planning on another tank for my Ram. I have looked around and decided on another Transfer Flow (I have their 54 gal replacement tank now). The design, fit, quality of welds, etc. are great. They clean the tank twice before powder coating and shipping.

I looked into the 38 gal aft axle tank but kinda like having the spare tire there and lots of clearance to the trail and for access to the diff. I'm leaning toward an in-bed tank and thinnking seriously about the aluminum diamond plate--no rust or crud collecting in the tank, and less heat absorption during the Las Vegas summers.

I realize you can't go for the 38 gal but even though I could, the in-bed tank is attractive for the above reasons plus the cost per gallon capacity gained. I once had a [censored] in-bed tank, but it kept rusting and developed a crack in the side near on of the internal baffles. Then, they refused to honor their warranty. To make a long story short, I'm tired of trying to shop for cheapest price in these tanks because best value works better for me. I ended up replacing so many fuel filters with that [censored] tank, and adding a bulk tank replaceable Fleetguard filter too. I have heard of and seen another [censored] brand that is prone to bad welds and sometimes leftover crud in the tank. My injection pump doesn't need the "extra goodies" and leaks are a real hassle, especially after the tank has held flammables.

Right you are Joe! The inside of my 54 gal. Transfer Flow tank was absolutely, perfectly clean as delivered from the factory. Everything, inluding the tank, hardware, attachment hoses and all peripherals were absolutely first rate! Ditto for the installation instructions and blueprint (and I'm the one who always finds the flaws in these things).

One of the reasons I purchased the 54 gal. Transfer Flow tank was due to your thread on this forum when you were testing it as well as your article in issue 32 of the TDR (in addition to the known quality of Transfer Flow products). Excellent reviews!

I know one thing, I couldn't be happier with mine! :)
