Guys,

I know I ask this every few months, but I'd love to find something and hope someone has done this.

I need an aft-axle fuel tank solution for a Quad cab, short bed.

Xfer Flow and Aero neither make one for short beds. I must be the red headed step child of pickups or something.

I hate to lose any more of my already short bed space with an in-bed solution. I hate to pay a lot of money for a replacement tank that only gives me 22% more capacity.

What is a poor, short-bedded man to do???!!

I'll take any advice. I don't mind to put parts together to make it work. I don't mind to alter things if I have to.

I'm in the same situation, there were threads about trying to get a bunch of people together for a group order, but the cost was so high its tough to get enough people to commit at once. I certainly can't commit to it anytime soon.

One thing I have been considering is looking at a Jeep CJ-7 or 8 21 gallon replacement tank that is easily availble for about $140. 00. You could put something like this in the spare tire location (they are aft axle on a CJ anyway). I think it would be a 38% increase in fuel and get about 350+ miles more range, plus get some weight in the back. I was envisioning filling it up with a flip down license plate possibly. I really haven't looked at the area at all to see if any of this is possible, but would like to see if it can be done. There are even skid plates availbable cheap for the same tank...

Lets see if anyone else has some ideas, the only other idea I had was welding up my own tank, but that would be quite a bit of work/time and I don't see myself getting around to it.

My 97 Dodge VAN came with a standard 35 gallon tank aft of the axle. Maybe you could do something with one of those tanks, but what about your spare?
