Just setup a 95gal RDS in the back of the truck and have it gravity fed into the vent tube. Well, I have ben trying to do research and figure out if I left anything out. Some people are saying it will leak from the vent tubes on each end of the tank, some say no. Some say I need to vent the aux tank, some say no.

So whats the real word? I'd like to hear from gravity fed guys. I basically did the FiverBob setup but in the vent line, not the filler neck. Im leaving for Philly tomorrow (1500miles one way) and am afraid its gonna leak when I fillup before I leave.

Anyone?

Anyone?

If you have a gate/shut off valve between tanks you'll be OK.

Don't know the FiverBob set up.

Have 160 gal tank with Northern tool gravity feed kit.

Ties into filler neck.

Have left mine feeding stock tank for weeks at a time, with no overflow.

But have your stock fuel cap snug, as the area behind the cap is completely full.

Good Luck! :)

Big tank came vented

Had a 37 gallon aux tank in the bed of my 2001. It feed into the vent tube for the main tank and it had a gate valve. It also had a vented cap (would let air in but not out). It never seemed to want to gravity feed if I just opened up the gate valve and ran that way. What I did was to run the main tank down to less then a 1/4 tank then, while stopped somewhere, open both caps and the gate valve. It would drain into the main tank and fill it withing a few minutes. When the aux tank had less then 1/4 left I could close both caps, leave the gate valve open, and it would gravity feed the rest. One thing I found out early is that you need to make sure the gate valve is closed while fueling. If you fill the main tank then fill the gravity aux tank, with the valve open, you are going to get a diesel surprise out the main filler neck. Only took one time to learn this lesson...

Nate...

I got it figured out... The vent on the tank is the small flared tube with the black cover on it next to the filler neck. Take that off and you are good to go. You are supposed to run a line from it down under the truck... but I dont want more holes in the bed.

Got mine hooked up via gravity through the overflow tube (3/4" ID hose) and it works great with 95gal of diesel in the bed. Just uncap the little 1/4" nipple and you are done.
