Availability of new 6 speeds?

I have a buddy who's wanting to buy an '05 3500 Quad 4x4 with a 6 speed manual transmission for farm work - cattle trailer, etc. The local dealer's telling him there's a quarantine on the '05's with 6 speeds. I just drove a new one about a month ago at another dealer and he said he was getting in 30 6-speeds. The first dealer said that he tried looking in the Dodge system and didn't see any 6-speeds at the 2nd dealer, but I know they're on the lot.



What gives? Any of you guys heard about a quarantine on the '05 6-speeds?

Welcome to the TDR. The G56 six speeds were on hold shortly after they were released, around March or so. There was a problem that was corrected by adding an additional quart of fluid to the transmission. We never really heard a good explanation of the issue, but it has been resolved and they are being delivered. I think the major reason that the 6 speeds are hard to find is that the dealers won't order them for stock.

That quarantine happened about 2-3 months ago, long over - Heck the auto was the first to be OFM (out for model year) - And all I could get was G56's



- So, no, there is not a hold on 05 G56's
