Just got my truck back from Bakers Diesel Injection in Odgen, Utah and I''ll say Jason is the man. I've been there a few times and they go above and beyond for a fair rate. My new motor has had some timing issues that were compounded with the new PDR 40/16. At temps below O* it took quite a while to warm up and idle correctly. At anytime I could almost flood it in neutral by accelerating. Jason tried to time it with the #1 DV and said something was off in the gears at TDC. When the motor was installed it was supposedly set at 26. 5. He actually had to advance the timing to 7mm and boy does it run good now. Dropped EGT 150-250 deg with hard running and smoked the clutch in 4th racing the boss in his 04,Edge box automatic. (yes I beat him by 2 lengths 0-90mph)

My question, what can cause the TDC to be off on a rebuilt motor?

Did the cam gear get put on wrong when being ground? I'm not real experienced about the inside workings of the 5. 9 and would just like to fix what is causing this.

Thanks for any info.

It sound to me that it was assembled wrong, I did the same thing because the marks on the gears were kinda hard to see. On a different note Jason, Jim and all those guy at Bakers Diesel are good folks. For ten years I've been going there and thats the only injection shop that deal with. Good luck with your CTD and I doubt you'll ever have any problem with it, them guys at Bakers really good at what they do!
