I just got a new 2004 HO 6 speed (yesterday!) and am wondering how to identify my rear axle... ie. 3:73 or 4:10.

I assumed the axle was the 3. 73 since the window sticker didn't mention 4:10 as an option. All it says for axle is 11. 5 and not the ratio.

How can I tell which I have for certain. I feel a bit stupid about this since I've been researching to buy a Dodge/Cummins vehicles for years and I missed asking a crucial question.

Not that I would be dissapointed one way or the other since I'll be getting a camper in the next year or so... but I would still like to know.

Thanks,

Jeff

Just to add to Joe's comment (Hi Joe!), if the window dont say the 4:10 then USUALLY its the 3:73 as this is the std (2x4 - not sure about the 4x4). A different pkg (snow plow or ?) may change the ratio but it still should be listed on the sticker. Sew, for the best advise, ck glove box and there also is a plate behind/near the pass side headlite with other codes, towards the rad.

SOTSU!!

Yep, 3:73... my girlfriend found it when we went out driving today... She goes hey, weren't you wondering about some number like 373 or something, cause it says it right here in the glove box. :)

I love driving a diesel with a manual. My e40d always had me a bit on edge, but this 6 speed feels bomb proof!

Thanks guys.
