Anyone know of a GL5 75W90 synthetic gear lube that does NOT have the limited slip additive already added to it? DC in Canada want $35 inc tax per quart for the Mopar stuff. That is highway robbery.

I checked Mobil and it has the LS additive package in it.

Thanks.

Casey,

Red Line Oil also makes an excellent fully synthetic group of lubricants for cars and trucks.

It appears their 75W90NS gear lube which meets API GL-5 and GL-6 specifications is what you would be looking for. As I recall, their lubricants cost about $9. 00 (us) per quart. Their site indicates 5 dealers in Canada.

I used Red Line engine and axle lubricants for years and never had a problem with them. Gaskets never leaked, gears never failed, oil consumption was insignificant, engine and drive train "seemed" smoother in extremes of hot and cold weather, and interstate highway mpg improved by about 10% to 15%. However, except for the improvement in highway miles per gallon, I can't say that Red Line, in my daily(not extreme duty) use, was any better or any worse than any other OEM approved conventional or synthetic lubricant.

i used valvoline 75w 90 to top off my axles, it took one quart in vtotal to top of front and back. valvoline is a great oil make sure you get syn. napa carries it.

I may be mistaken but I thought the American Axles dont require friction modifier.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are absolutely right. That is why I am posting for lube that does NOT have the friction modifiers in it.
