Is there a 2017 - 2019 3500 srw/drw rear axle rating chart showing capacities without taking tires and wheels in consideration?

2018 3500
-SRW = 7000 GAWR
-DRW = 9750 GAWR
Here is what I downloaded a while ago, pretty sure it is the same for 17 and 19 trucks.

but that's with the tires/wheels, which I think are the weak links

Last I talked to AAM the 11.5 was rated for 10,912lbs (4950kg). That was the axle itself, and there have been housing improvements since then (circa ‘08).

IMHO, the axle isn’t the weak link but rather frame/suspension. That’s just my opinion, and not based on anything else. Not that the frame is weak, just the weakest link.

As far as GM vs Dodge/Ram the rating was the same, but AAM did state that Dodge/Ram spec’d better bearings.

I think the DRW 2019 will be different than 17/18 since they needed a new bolt pattern to fit bigger bearings and such...

look at the gawr of the doorjam. the axle itself is rated a bit higher than the door sticker for obvious reasons. if it says 6k gawr then it will be rated around 7k or so for the axle itself. alot of times they also have a torq rating but that info is harder to find

The tires are actually not the weak links.
- standard tire for a 3500 SRW is LT275/70R18E, rated at 3638 pounds each or 7276 total - rear GAWR is 7000. Almost 4% cushion.
- standard tire for a 3500 DRW is LT235/80R17E, rated at 2835 pounds each in dual assembly or 11340 total - rear GAWR is 9750. Just over 16% cushion.

If you look at the OP's sig you can see he is running 19.5's in a SRW configuration. He is likely trying to find out what he can safely load the rear axle up to.

I had 19.5's on my '05 with wheels rated for 4500lbs. I did all the research I felt I needed to and determined that I could safely load the wheel up to their entire 4500lb rating and not be overloading any component on the truck, so even with 14 ply tires the wheel/tire combo was still the weakest link.

On LD trucks that might be true, but on these HD Ram's it's not the case. The axle itself is rated for at least 10,912lbs.

The wheels/tires are the weak link on the SRW 3500. The frame/axle are the same on all 3500 models, and the suspension is even identical with the auto-level. There are additional overloads on a DRW standard spring suspension vs the SRW suspension, but not enough to cause the suspension to be the weak link on the SRW.
