Looks like you are doing the fronts. If you could, let me know how it goes getting the carrier out. I keep putting it off thinking the leak will go away :)

Well actually Cooker it should be easy getting the hub/bearing carrier for me cuz I had them out last week for new rotors..... I ended up have to use a 3lb hammer on the back side of the rotors..... it took about 5min each to beat them off... however I was replacing the bearings and rotors so naturally you shouldnt do it that way... . Then I used antisieze and coated everything ... I just got the new splash shields and bearing spacer shims in also from the dealer cuz mine were rusted away

Im also doing the ball joints while Im at it cuz the uppers are bad..... sooo Im going to attemped to do all this this Saturday,so Ill let you know how it went... whoops re read the post thought you were talking about the bearings ummm I will defently let you know my seals arent leaking yet sooo, depending on the difficulty I may just skip the seals and hope for the best... . but I wil keep you informed... ..... Rick,

If the seals are not leaking now, I don't think I would add any more to your project than you have to. The carrier in the differential needs to come out, which as I understand can be quite easy to a real PIA. I have been putting it off long enough now and I need to take care of it before it get any colder around here. I have been saying that for a couple weeks and I still haven't done it yet :) Thanks.

According to my local Dodge dealer, there are different part numbers for both the left and right front axle seals. I'm not sure what the difference is... I just had him order me a driver side seal.

And no Ryan, I haven't started in on that project yet. I'm thinking about waiting until spring.

Cooker,

I changed my front seals at about 200K miles. A couple of pry bars and the carrier will fall right out. Just make sure you have some plywood down and don't try to stop it with your hand... OUCH:{

Good luck.

Axle seal installer

Cooker

I made a seal installer kit to put those seals in. It pulls them in

"nice an straight" and makes that part of the job a little easier.

Let me know when your ready to tackle it and I'll send the kit out to you to try. You can give me some feedback on what you think of it because I've been thinking of making a batch to sell.

Well I finished my front end and decided not to do seals, they weren't leaking so I decided not to install... what I did decide was change the axle joints... . that turn out to be a $300. 00 mistake... . I press the axle joint out with a joint press and the joints were in so tight that it cracked the outboard output shaft, had to drive 60 miles on a Friday during rush hour to get one the only Dealer nearest to me that stocked it... . so needless to say the other joint felt ok so I didn't touch it however the right axle seal is leaking now since I pull the axle and I know that I was extremely careful putting the axle back in..... so hopefully it will heal itself in time:(

Ususally a little gear oil gets into the axle tube when you take the axle shaft out. After a couple weeks if it's still leaking you might a problem.

CPFF, please keep us updated on your front axle seal kit. I for one am interested. If it's anything close in quality to the billet aluminum oil filter block adapter I purchased from you a few years ago it'll be a winner!

Please PM me with price, details etc. when available.

TIA
