Rear axle Dana-71

Front axle Dana-61

Ratio 3. 07:1

Is there any differences between; Dana 70s- 71s and Dana

60s - 61 axle assembles

ratio 3. 07. 1

I think the 61 and 71 means Dodge spec'd axles. The junkyards call the 3:07s series geared axles U code axles. Now if you call a yard that knows what they are doing. Just tell them you need a U code model 60 or 70 and they can tell you what it fits and the gear ratio. LOL

Also on the 61 front axles. Dodge is the only one that used this type of upper ball joint. Ford and Chevy used the old tried and true type.

Been there done that. :(

No they do not. A 70/71 uses the same carrier as the 3:54/4:10 ratios. The difference is the pinion offset in the axle housing.

I have a L/S installed in my 70U/71 axle from a 94 model 70. I just changed the side gears to 35 spline axles.

Better than my answer. I knew there was a difference to allow higher gearing just should have double checked before posting.

Also running a Dana 70 carrier in my rear 71. Needed a new one as a mangled mine when I sheared the carrier's LSD bolts in half this past summer. Too much trailer and too much power for a 70. :D
