Mopar-Muscle,
One other thought on the head to head the other night. I have about 400 lbs of stuff in the bed and the cab. The fuel tank was about 3/4. Not sure if that would make any difference, but food for thought.

david if weight was an issue i should have stayed right with you , i had less than a 1/2 tank and only about 200 lbs extra , not including my sorry butt, also saw the od ratio comparo and i have a little more gear than you in od , i think alot of my loss is in the trans , plus not enough grunt when i stab it going [censored] mph , if it would downshift the rpms would be seeing redline , butthe quick shot of the Gtech noted a 5 mph increase in the quarter mile , puts the 275/boost module increase about the same as the va alone , i hope to get to the track wednesday nite ...

I put the boost module back in. It was a good idea to leave it out since saturday, as now I do feel a change. The lower end power builds real fast and I swear I hear more turbo whine than before. I need to dyno this thing so I can tell what is going on.

I will be running some 1500-3000 runs once the snow melts off.

HEY! Both of you guys get to work! #ad
Mo-muscle, I am going to have to give MIT an anonymous call and advise they put a filter on their computers to prevent access to the TDR #ad
Seriously, I am glad I don't work near a computer, I would have it set up to refresh the TDR page every thirty seconds so I could keep up with every post. Progress would come to a grinding stop.

I can't wait for you get to the track and put some numbers on this. If I wasn't so swamped with the regular job plus sidework right now I would come and join ya. The grin on my face is getting wider and wider the more I drive the truck #ad
It stopped raining today so hopefully tomorrow I can get to some dry pavement (away from the "p@$$#d off state trooper zone") and do some 0-60's. I have feeling I will get into low 8's. Not bad for almost 7k of non-aerodynamic metal.

IF you think your truck is not aerodynamic, wait 'till you see the 2002.

What is it with these starwars looking trucks that are coming out. Do the MFG really think we are greeting luke skywalker and feel the need to look like we are hovering a few inches off the ground.

Next thing they will install dry ice machines so we can have smoke rising from the underbody when we charge the power source... .

Sorry 'bout your dad David, puts BOMBing and trucks into perspective eh.

We had a great time this weekend. Adam beat the Ferds and Chebbys. Gary's truck seem to be quite a bit faster now for some reason #ad
Here is a quote "Rrrrrr... Rrrrrr... . Rrrrrr"!
I checked out a BOMB hidaway at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort for a BOMBoree run in June. Lots of parking for RV's and trucks. Four wheeling. Pinecrest lake. #ad

If you all are interested, the injectors in my truck are Bosch versions like David has
although they have been flowed on the extrude hone machine. They don't cause any smoke problem and they idle smooth as can be. No peculiarities. Scott1 and WillysLover both have the same injector and swear by them.
The DD part number is ISB003A. These injectors are about 20 hp down compared to the black injectors but you may happier with them. FYI

Well, I think my wife must have bribed the TDR to shut down so I could get some yard work done. Probably a good thing in the long run!! Check 9 months from now, probably a bunch of births!!

OK, the roads have dried off, the snow is gone and they filled the pot holes.

TRUCK ROCKS, sure not DD3s but I am very very happy with what I have.

David

Yes like Dave I am very, very happy with the truck. I finally got a good launching technique down and shaved the 0-60 down to 8. 4. I got the tires to break loose in first, on the shift to second, and on the shift to third!

Yes David, those Ram prototypes I have been seeing look pretty weird. I may be holding on to the current truck longer than I originally planned. You never know, though, I hated the current design when it came out in '94, but I grew to love it.

Bob, I am hunting for a trailer to hook onto, I'll let you know how it turns out. I was very impressed when I pulled around 8k earlier this year with just the VA box and was able to maintain 70 - 75 up any interstate hill in fifth. If you look at the dyno tests that sportbike did on the various mods, you will see that the VA and the 275's are most beneficial in the 1600 - 2000 range, which is perfect for towing. I think this makes a great towing combo.

Can't do any towing until I get back from CA. I'll be working on my gauge installation with MCrossley while out there. Once I return I will find someone at the local dinner to loan me their trailer. If I had a gooseneck hitch I'd be there, but I only have the bumper pull hardware.

David

A'cat, tell me about your launch technique

Vermont crew, where are you?? Dave you got the gauges in yet? What kind of #'s are you seeing? Towed a 77 1 ton chebby yesterday, lugging (1500) in 5th 18psi and just shy of a 1000* EGT. I NEED MORE MOTOR #ad
You guys experience any loos of power before you started bombing? This sucks. Last fall (1500 miles) i was content. with the camper, jeep, & trailer I'm about 19000 and could run 70 mph on the flats easily with pedal to spare. Yesterday with only that one ton & same trailer i had all i could do to run 60 MPH WOT #ad
I'm guessing i was around 15,500 #ad
Do me a favor. Run a 40 -60 mph run. According to one of the low power TSB's a 5spd 3500 4x4 should run about 9 seconds stock. Going to run mine in the morning, then go &itch at the dealer. Also looking at TSB 18-11-99 my engine serial # falls in the group to reflash #ad
Should have caught this earlier #ad
Now what to do? #ad
Can't afford the BOMB run I'm planning, just bought the master boss running boards from Putco OUCH!! Thanks guys. Hey Dave get a trailer. Beg borrow or ..... ?
Later, Bob

dude, that 9 sec number has gotta be wrong, at least I hope it is. granted my truck is a 2500 SRW, but I can run 0-60 in less than that! 40-60 is about 4. 1. I always thought my truck was fairly strong, even stock. Maybe you need the dreaded reflash #ad
I have not hooked to a trailer since I put the injectors in, but I am pretty confident it would tow like a mother. I can tell you that my setup dropped my 0-60 from 12. 6 stock to 8. 5 as of right now. I would get the reflash, and if that doesn't work, post to the forum and see if there is anyone in your area that would loan you thier VA for a day. It is not the greatest mod out there, but it is so easy to install and remove that I'm sure someone would let you try it and then you would have an idea. Good luck

David, we will have plenty of time to work on launching the next time you come down. I have found the perfect little flat stretch of road with not a single house as far as the eye can see #ad

PS scrmbld, checked your fuel fuel and air filters lately? To have a drop in performance from one year to the next sounds screwy.

My filter was ugly when we were doing the injector installs. That might be part of the problem on your rig.

The lift pump might be part of the issue, but purely stock I really hope not.

===
I have the gauge partially installed. Boost to #29, temp probe not installed. Mike and I are part way into the turbo cooldown circuit mod for our digital gauges. I really like these SPA gauges, many nice features!!

I love to race cars up hills on the interstate. They can't get away from me!! #ad

Dave and Vermont crew,

Got the reflash to the ECM done. Also had one for the PCM, tech asked if I wanted it? Sure what does it do. Not much for a standard but suppose to have some shift oint stuff for the auto impaired. Did say it would help the cruise sensitivity.

So far seems OK. Only thing I can say for sure is it idles smoother. Tach needle is rock steady, where before it would bounce a little like the motor was surging. We'll see, next weekend will be the test we're off to Grand Junction via Vail Pass ( my nemisis). If that goes bad... Sorry Mary, THE CARD GETS A WORK OUT!!! #ad
#ad

On our other post about the true ISB ECM, What do you guys think about using the DC uprate ECM instead of the VA and DD I's. The DC ECM is only a little more money but would give you no BS warranty issues and no need to pull it when shop time is required. The way i read the VA specs and the Cummins specs either device on their own would give similiar results. But what else is programmed into the uprate ECM?? Would this be kinder to the VP44 vs. the VA program? Would the ECM be more of a total engine upgrade if you will vs. just overloading the VP44 with electrons, or is DC just turning the pump up also? Does the uprate ECM allow more boost?

This might turn out to be the ultimate sleath mod. The ECM and DD #1's both have MOPAR part #'s. #ad

Any trailer sessions yet???

Later, Bob

P. S. Also changed the fuel filter it was ugly. Guess the 15,000 mile interval is out the window. Every 5k along with the oil now.

The fuel filter will "look" ugly fast. The real test is to check the pressure upstream and downstream. I've got 17,000 miles on mine and very little difference across the filter. Also, as a filter collects material, it gets MORE efficient at removing stuff. Finally, if you're filter is getting "clogged up" that fast, I would change where I buy my fuel.

scrambled , thats a good thought on the uprate ECM , but they won't sell you one if you have the auto , its only for manual transmissions ...

Started my truck at the airport after it sat for two weeks. I found the new fancy electronic boost gauge showing -2PSI.

I recalibrated and hit 32PSI on the way home.

On the flat highway at 2500RPM I was holding steady at 14PSI at #ad
slighty over the limit.

On the flat highway at 2000RPM I was holding steady at 6PSI at #ad
just slightly over the limit.

Truck runs great, much better than that damn rental Chevy Venture I had in California.
