The "fart sound" thread this morning got me thinking about the turbo bark issue again. Been working up a turbo package for the wifeys Miata and most tuners are using a BOV (Blow Off Valve) for any boost pressure over 10 psi. Ya I know 10 psi doesn't sound like much, but it good for about 75 hp and on a 2100 lb car that is definitely noticable...
Anyway, basically the BOV relieves the pressure in the intake tract upstream of the turbo to prevent the pressure wave from backing up in the intake tract and stalling or even possibly reversing the turbine.
Anyone experimented with one on the trucks yet? I bark mine everytime while towing in the mountains if not paying attention. It's annoying to have to feather out of the throttle just to shift.
