Honda Generator Recall Info

Hey guys

I currently have a 2006 2500 4x4 with a B&W turnover hitch in it. I need to take this hitch out and put it in a 2001 3500 2 wheel drive. Does anyone know if this will work. I wasn't sure if they would use the same hardware or not.

Thanks

I'm sure the frame brackets are different as the frames are entirely different between the 3rd generation (2006) and 2nd generation (2001) trucks. I'd check the B&W website to get the correct part numbers for the parts you'll need to move the hitch.

A note of caution - do NOT try to invert the gooseneck ball and store it in the turnoverball hitch in the 2WD truck. B&W sells a special plug to fit in the turnoverball hitch for the 2WD trucks as the gooseneck ball will hit the differential in the 2WD trucks in its inverted position. I've been down that road with my 2002 2WD 3500.

They are different. I went the opposite way, from an 01 to an 07. 5 and I had to make my own brackets to mount to the frame. The main top plate may be the same and like Rusty suggested you may be able to buy just the mounting brackets to save on having to buy the whole hitch again. The hitch also doesn't clear dual tailpipes where the drivers side one crosses over the rear axle if the 01 has this. I had to beat mine half flat at that point to keep it from hitting the underside of the hitch.

Where are you located? We have a good B&W hitch for a 2001 sitting in a box that we might be interested in trading.

I'm Florida for now. Thanks for your help, I had this all figured out I thought, but forgot about the 4 wheel drive difference. Maybe I can get the brackets locally. I'm buying a DRV in Ocala Fl, and the dealer is transferring the hitch for me.

I've used the system on several trucks with the companion hitch... . as I've needed parts I've just either called or emailed them directly and they where happy to sell me what I needed... I was pleased with the service...

Don't mess around trying to swap hitches it will cost you more in the long run. Order the proper B&W hitch from tweetys.com and get it installed. The Mobile suites is VERY heavy, mine has 4,500# pin weight. You want a very solid hitch for your RV application.

Do it once, do it right!

I'll check it out. The dealer is changing it out for me, at no cost. It's part of the deal we made to purchase the rv
