B1 max boost numbers

There is a guy on TDS asking about a B1 powered 2000 Dodge. He is curious why the boost is only going to 50 pounds. He also mentions later that it's spec'd for 75-80 psi. I know it is not that high, no way!

i just had my b1 redone with bigger housing and a dual port internal waswtegate but for a year i drove it with no wastegate and a stock headgasket and would hit 65psi of boost with comp on only 4x5 and no water/meth injection and mach 3's right now I make about 55psi and 60psi with meth comp on 4x5 and mach 5's on a stock gasket mine must have been made on a wedesday haha

I believe the best efficiency of the B1 is in the 48-52lbs of boost. Higher pressures raise the air temp which the intercooler can't lower enough and power actually is reduced.

So this guy should be plenty happy with his "measely" 50 psi?



I was thinking that was about right.



Sure it can make more, but like you said, it won't do any good if the air is too hot to be efficient.
