Choke!

did some thinking here. the B1 may spool nice with the 12cm but after 2500rpm and full fuel from the cummins 12v P7100 the 12cm just may not be big enough even with a 4"outlet.

I may buy one in the next few months. I still have a stock HX-40 thats on borrowed time.

My heart says B-1, but my wallet says Piers HX-40 :D

Mark, Our trucks are within 2. 1 RWHP of each other. :D

After looking at the housing on the B-1 in Marks photos it appears to be close in internal size as the 12 Holset housing.

Course, this is picture Im going by. Someone ask Kurt what it is.

He can prolly tell ya that much without havin to kill ya:D

Don~

Kurt said that it "might" be something between a 12 and a 14cm, but will out flow the 14 by a large margin. Sort of like a 12cm for an hx40 out flows the 12 for the 35.

Hi Chris,

can you 'splain' that to me? The part about the 40 and 35 housings flowing more... I dont understand.

I do know the B-1 is droppin EGT's for guys as reported

Don~

I "think" it is from the greater diameter of the nozzle around the turbine. I thought that the 12cm and other such ratings were based on area, thus the cm (squared) rating. Apparently some are equating it to width instead, so anything with a greater diameter turbine actually has a greater area for the exhaust gas to pass through, therefore the greater flow.

If the B-1 holds up ... well ... more of the kids inheritance is history. Like Don said, EGT is WAY down. I think spool up is better than the stock HX40. I think the B-1 will handle the 0 plate & beg for more. I think we'd be pushing 500hp Don. :--)

Comparisons

On the monster 12v trucks I am installing twins. This is to combat the 2K egt's.

For normal trucks the B1 is more bang for the buck. It's much simpler too.

Forget about trying to compare the B1 to a Holset.

The housings are not rated the same and they damn sure don't perform the same. For one thing, the B1 is dual wastegated, the Holset is only wastegating the back three barrells. Can you say blown head gasket???

Don't even try to compare the B1 to a Holset, it doesn't.

Chris, What HVAC is talking about is on a HX-40 the waste gate is only on the ports that come from the last three cylinders, the front cylinder don't have any means to get rid of the excess boost.

Even with my waste gate set at 38 PSI, I have seen 42 PSI under full throttle playing with other kids:D (truck car what ever I come acrossed)

Piers is working on a dual wastegated housing. He'll keep me in the power:--) :--)

Great turbo. . try it. :D

Mark I love my B1, and would recomend it to anyone with a "normal" truck, then there are the trucks like Brandons "smokey". Even with the h2e and big ol exhaust housing, egt's go up like the tach. Nope, gonna take more than one hairdryer to even cut it off at the knees on that baby. the only cure will be boost, lots and lots of compounded boost.
