Water Fuel !

Best Water Filter - Making Bio Diesel

We had a 3g Ram towed in this week with a dead lift pump. The tech noticed the fuel smelled strange and looked like swamp water. (his description, not mine) It has a VERY strong varnish smell to it. The customer has been using B100 purchased locally for a few months without problems until now. Any ideas what would cause this? I'm thinking it may have been from sitting for a while before being pumped into the tank or from poor storage.

If the Bd smells like paint, it was probably heated way to hot and polymerization has started,(smells like paint and may act like paint).

I would take a sample down to the place where he got it and ask them if this is right ,and if they would like to foot the bill for the fix. .

I am sure if it has happened to one guy ,there may be others and they might have a bad load of bd on their hands.

Thanks for the info Dirk. Somebody came out and got a sample to be tested, and mentioned that someone else complained of the same problem. The tech flushed out the fuel system, replaced the lift pump, and changed the filter. The truck ran normal again after that.

I almost bought fuel from the same source that weekend. I'm glad my wife had other plans and I filled up with B20 instead.
