Got the BA flash a couple of weeks ago and now my around town gas mileage is as bad as it was when the truck was new and they kept telling me it would get better. Also towed the travel trailer up to northern Arizona and power seemed less than my old 95 Ram diesel had. It would hold the hills better than the new truck and it had 3. 54 gears and a lot less horsepower and torque. Also exhaust brake seems like it cuts in and out on deceleration with it on.

Gas mileage is now at 11. 5 and going down.

What is the reason behind all these flashes if they don't make improvements in horsepower or fuel mileage? I am starting to hate this truck.

Sounds like P2262 symptoms. No CELs?!? Have you ever had the turbo cleaned or replaced? Has the dealer performed the exhaust wrap and replaced the oxygen sensors?

The intent of the flashes is not to give more HP, but to fix problems that are being seen by people around the country, for example some of teh updates have fixed MIL lights from coming on for various false failures. Some of these flashes may lead to a marginal increase in MPG, but not necessarily. The trucks are tuned probably as best as they can for MPG, and the rest is up to driving style and routes. Sorry to say, but a new flash will not double your MPG or HP. Worth repeating, but always best to hand calculate your mileage and note what type of driving/route you did, the overhead (with the 6. 7's as with the 5. 9's) is not the most accurate.

Turbo has been cleaned at least twice. Doesn't have the exhaust wrap or new O2 sensors. EGR system has been cleaned twice also. Disgusted with truck. They should have told owners that these trucks are not daily drivers. Can't do any emission changes because I live in an area where they test.

Should have kept my 95.

Didnt mention anything about fuel dilution in the crankcase huh ? oil level over the top of the dipstick marker.

My 08 truck has been a learning experience and not really a very positive one at that, fords are the same exhaust design too. Chevy?

Not the real Adblue urea injected Bluetech technology just a choked production exhaust

I had the exhaust wrap done and all updates flashed to AS all is well for the moment and it is not a commuter truck at all.

So I make my payments hoping to trade someday maybe i will win the lotto then it wont matter any more.

Now i read and here the mahindra Indian diesel is coming at 25 mpg but its a little truck,

how about a supercharged turbo V4 with electric charging transmission over electro hydraulic all wheel drive and a 2 speed rear hydrostatic differential.

sure like the hydraulic cooling fan motor on my cat loader hmmn?

Got the BA flash end of July before heading out to the San Jauns in Colorado. Immediately after the flash I noticed less power (mainly the seat of the pants torque) and a less aggressive e-brake. Read that it takes couple hundred miles of driving to get back to normal but after 3000 miles it is basically the same.

It is extremely frustrating to take your truck in and be told there is a new flash that will make your truck perform better (TSB was labeled Vehicle Performance) and have it perform worse.

Heading west thru Monarch Pass CO. was OK, but coming home via HWY 70's passes it definitely had less power than it did 2 years ago when it was new.

I have heard there is a new TSB out but not sure if it has a flash associated with it that will give be back my torque and e-brake.

Does anyone know if I can go back to my last flash that came out with the O2 Sensor recall?

Let me know.

I don't think it is possible to return to previous software before a reflash. Uploading the new software erases the previous and it is gone forever.

Experienced that on my C&C with the AX flash. I was told there was no return, but it was for better emissions performance not throttle performance. I regret it still, but if that means the life of my CTD is extended, SO BE IT. I always know when in regen now when city driving as I row through my (manual G56) gears, but don't notice it on the highway towing or not. The low RPM performance is poor and when I hit 2000RPM it takes off like a bat out of hell, to the point that it seems like the throttle is sticking when I depress the clutch. I have learned to just shift before 2000RPM and drive it very slow when in regen.

I was warned there was no return and was given the choice, so I have to take the blame for it. However, I still complain to the dealer and have them check it out, so Dodge will work on a solution for it. If it costs them money because everybody returns for the problems the flashes created, they will keep looking for a better solution.

It would be nice if MY dealer (don't want to trash all dealers) had mechanics who truly know what is going on with these trucks. When I took my truck in for the steering recall I was told there was a new flash out to improve the mileage and power performance of my truck. I asked to speak with the diesel mechanic who I have spoke to before to confirm it was truly a driving improvement and all of the sudden he was not available and even though I told them I would wait, they called for a rental car as they said it would take to long to wait. Obviously I will not be going there again, problem is this is the third dealer I have been to in St. Louis that does not have a knowledgeable diesel tech.

I agree with RVTRKN that the performance hit is in the low end grunt that use to make this truck a pleasure to drive. Now at in town speeds it dogs unless you keep it in 5th and when pulling the trailer it wants to down shift more often than before on the same hills it didn't before. Also with the e-brake less aggressive your hitting the brakes more often (which as we all know aren't so good in the first place). In addition my mileage is down 1. 5 miles per gallon.

I tried to do my research before allowing the upgrade but truthfully we are going on blind faith as I was told by the service writer that this was to be a "Performance Improvement" that was related to power and mileage.

I have since complained to the service writer (which seems to do nothing when it is only a verbal complaint) and have decided to put the complaint in writing to the dealer and to Chrysler.

Does anyone know who to send complaints to at Chrysler Corporate as often finding the right person can at least give them the accurate feedback they need to know.

MTN DOG, have your service writer write up the complaint as well, so there is a record of your problems. When you turn it in for service, ask to have the codes checked with that complaint so they don't ignore you. My tech was glad to test drive with a diagnostic tool connected and another tech to watch it as we drove it around a couple of miles. It is under warranty and was not charged.
