Well my 03 was one of the first 3rd gens ever off of the assembly line. I got carried away with bombing that truck with too little known about the fuel system etc. . Well ended up with a bad cylinder to make a long long story very short. I fixed the truck and immediately sold it because I was out of money and couldn't afford to keep sinkin money into something I depended on daily... . live and learn I guess. I stumbled across the dmax when I was looking for a replacement truck. It was a regular cab and I got a very good deal. I decedided to give it a try. I have several buddies with dmaxs and they like em. I got talked into it. It was a o4. 5 lly and I put 40,000 miles on it. The truck itself was nice. The dmax has decent power and the allision was nice... ... but definitely not flawless like it is made out to be by some. The IFS sucks... bottom line. Not meant for a heavy duty pickup. Now I know it can be beefed up for dragracing sled pulling etc..... but I broke stock tierods on a forest road getting to my hunting spot. The road was a little rough but I had a heavy duty pick up right? Heck I had no. 2 pencils back in elementrary school bigger than those tierods! I had an old ranger I must of driven down that road a thousand times without a problem... and I need to upgrade my hd to get it done... sheesh.
Basically I really liked my old 03 before I got rid of it. I got an excellent deal on an 05 so I bought it. I like how the cummins pulls and feels. I like the stance and feel of the dodge heavy duty trucks. In my opinion the dodge/cummins is a better overall package than the dmax. I owned both..... both a nice trucks... . just like the cummins better.
