Back fire????

I dont know if it was a backfire. I was driving into work this morning and was passing sombody let off throttle and KABOOM!!!!! sounded like a grenade went off under truck no cel truck seems to be running fine I have almost 8000miles on it never any trouble anbody have any ideas. thought I blew the dpf right out the back of the truck guess that is one way to get rid of it ????????????????????????????.

The common rail injectors are fired by electronic pulses. If you have a box or if something is interfering with the timing of the injectors, they will fire at the wrong time and cause the 'backfire' sound.
