well got my KDp done.
It was so much fun.
First the fan got tighter each way. Turned it right, it got tighter. Went back the other way, it got easier, then tighter. Hmm, checked the directions, ran it back right. Got really hard, ran it back left and I felt it bottom out on the threads, so I ran it back right and had to really put my weight in it to get it off. Then the fan didnt want to come out of the shroud. Got it out.
Things went fine till I went to hook the air up. We didnt have a pressure reglulator. Ended up "stealing" Doc's little air compressor with a built in regulator and used that till the motor got hot and kicked its self off. Took off the regulator and plumbed it into the hose to use the shop air.
Then when I was counter sinking the hole, I forgot the drill would work in both foreward and reverse. Got it counter sunk and tapped.
Got it going back together and the alternator is tight on its lower bracket. I manage to get the bolt to go through and get it on tight. I was needing to replace the old belt, but I forgot to bring one. I think it got stepped on and split in 2 in 2 spots. So off to find another one. Goodyear didnt have one in stock , good thing it was $56. Autozone had a Kelly Springfield. Got back and it didnt fit. It was the same length as the old one. Had the tensioner on the stop and it was an inch too short. Noticed that when I put the alternator on, I kind of missed the hole and the bolt went in above the bracket. Got it back in the right spot, and it ran just fine.
it took a little longer than the 45 mins it was supposed to take. it ran over by 5 hours.
nice easy job, just like always.
but it was the 5 hours at hooters afterwards that wore me out.
