Had a '97 Eldorado named Marvin (if you have ever seen Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy then you understand) that was the best car for winter driving that I have ever owned. Quit running it at 260,000 miles when the head gasket finally let go. I have run several other vehicles since but none really compared.

Soooooooo I'm out tire kicking a few weeks back and stumbled onto a 2006 Cadillac DTS Luxury I. It needed a little work but was sound. Dealer had been stuck with it since last fall, so the Karma was right to make a lowball out the door offer. Apparently the shop did not do much of an evaluation on it as the front wheel bearings were just a growling. I think that turned any potential buyers off right there after a test drive.

But that did not scare me, I know that powertrain and knew exactly what it needed.

They accepted the low, low, low offer. Crap, now I own another car......

So just finished putting new front wheel bearings and c/v shafts in it this weekend, fixed the HID headlights and several other blown lights, only thing left is to fix the driver and front passenger heated/cooled seats.

It drove to work this morning as a Cadillac should, and that is quietly.

Let me know if you think that I might have lost my mind.....

Please forgive the filthy mess all over the car, it is springtime in Maine and my place is a mile in on a dirt road......

You're like me...can't have just one or two rigs lol

I like the color....get some tint on those windows and look like a 'bad guy' haha

Grandkids love it, it has heated seats in the back where they ride. They are also in control of their own heat and a/c.........If I tint the windows and make it look all "Gangsta" I'll never get them out when it is time for them to go home.......

For the increased comfort I can justify the additional $25.00 or so per week in fuel over the Jetta TDI.

Mike,

Gizmo, a Cougar, T&C's, a real truck and now a flipping Cady.

Did you forget to come in this winter when it was so cold, HOW COLD WAS IT? Fill in joke here______________ that your brain had a few spots get frozen and disconnected from each other?

Hey, for $25 per week honey if I buy the TDI I'm saving real cash money and we can go on that cruise you always wanted to. Forget that promise Mikey??????

Sell it to Mikey, he'll buy anything.

Where's that Pacer, lets take a pic and send it to Mikey!

Gary

I took her to Florida already this spring so I might dodge that bullet for a little while...

I don't know about a Fishbowl Pacer BUT I always had a hankering for a Gremlin...............

Gremlin, that's a service dept employee that only punches in after midnight and leaves about 4AM after doing it's "thing".

Do you even have room in your signature for the Cady?

Those Caddies are sweet and you can get em cheap!!! That's about the only bad thing about them, no resale value but who cares if your not the guy taking the depreciation hit right?!

I think that there is a Sub in the rear somewhere...I was cranking the tunes, jammin' on the way in and the rear view mirror was all blurry......

Woo Hoo....I would like to have had one of these back in the day.....

Mike.

So he has time to fix his sig line but no time to wash and wax his new ride, depriving some intercity dude his next hoopty ghetto sled!

"Hoopty Ghetto Sled", that's just perfect!!!!

I shall name thee "Hoopty"..........

Mike.

I'd been searching for a name for the new ride and you presented the SOULution, we have ghettos up here but the structures are covered in tar paper, typar and the official State Of Maine blue tarps.....

Just remembered the song that makes the rear view mirror unstable......Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty"....made me laugh when it started jumping up and down....

Mike, I hope you got a good 'un. We bought an 04 like that with about 74k miles on it in 06, I think, and put 12k miles on it before we cried "Uncle." 1-- It burned a quart of oil about every 600 miles. I figured that's why they made that Nawthstah with such a big oil pan--so it could run 3-4 quarts low on oil and not blow. 2--- A trans sensor wouldn't let the TC lock up. 3---The HVAC mode selector went belly up and the dash had to be jerked out. 4----Two window regulators went out. 5---The last straw--The air shocks went kaputch. We figured we could make payments on a new Accord cheaper than we could keep that thing up. The Accord we traded for (our 4th one) has been back to the dealer once for a recall and the glove box won't open, and that's about takes care of the problems for 92k miles. Caddilelac ad themes tell that if you drive one of dem thangs, your poopee won't stink!
