Bought a 2002 a couple weeks ago. I like driving it better than my 06!

Put on a steering stabilizer this morning. Solid Steel Industries made purchased from Source Automotive.

Have a Raptor 100 on the way with 1/2 fuel line to the IP. Plan on pulling the bed off next saturday to do the install. Any advice on the draw straw or bed removal?

My last fuel pump install came with an in line fuel strainer. Anyone have a part number for that?

Saw a tread where quarter turn ball valves were put in after the pump. Was this just to stop the drain back during a filter change? I pump I ordered has no filters just plan on using the stock bowl or adding a base for a spin on filter on the frame.

Hi J

Would suggest drop the tank and use the fule module up grade kit instead of the draw straw. Also run through the original filter unless you have something better. I'm an Air Dog dealer so if you need any help give me a call at 215-788-1107.

Thanks Clayton

When I took apart the fuel pickup assembly on my '01. 5 it was noticeably better than older 2nd Gen units in that it looks less restrictive. Not the best for big HP but should be plenty adequate for 500hp with a good pump. Just replace the line from outside the tank on up to you pump. Just install the Raptor on the frame just in front of the tank.

If you had some help you could unbolt the bed bolts then raise the bed 6-10" or so and block it up, that should give you good room. Otherwise run the tank way low then drop it from below (which is what I do most the time).

The fuel pickup unit has a strainer, I would lean toward not doing an inline prefilter.

Some guys have done ball valves to set up for a quick pump change, but if you have a good one there shouldn't be a need for it. On my pump I put NPT to JIC brass fittings on it then JIC -8AN fittings on the hoses that connect to the pump. That would make it fairly quick & easy to change should the time come (if you set up a spare with the brass adapters).

Was looking at the pump and it contents this morning.

I did not know that all the lines were pre crimped with quick connections. I really wanted to add some extra filtration down on the frame rail before and after the pump. An in line strainer pre pump and another water separator after the pump.

With the quick connects I really don't want to cut the lines and weaken the system with push lock fittings.

My thoughts are with the 1/2 inch line going to cool the VP-44 and not so much on the horsepower until later on.
