Does anyone know what the back-spacing on the stock steel wheels is? Also, anybody found any aftermarket wheels with the same (or close to) the same backspacing as the stock wheels?

Hey doliver,

1) Backspacing is 6. 0" and offset is +40mm

2) Nope. Not if you want to stick to stock. Thanks to Dodge's deep offset starting in 2000. Rickson is coming out with forged aluminum wheels for the 2000+ Rams soon but beyond that I'm not aware of anything.

I've got 12mm offset wheels on the way for my 04 and they will stick out about 1" more than stock. yikes 40mm offset! where did that come from!

pardon the dumb question, but what is backspacing?

DLeno, backspacing is distance from the inner rim edge to the back of the mount pad. Most wheels are around 4. 5" to about 5" for wheels in our size range.

I have some 18" Weld wheels with +10mm offset & 5. 25" backspacing and they stuck out wayy too far when I tried one on my '01 2-wheel drive. With bigger tires and fat fender flares you should be OK your 4x4.
