Snake people - what is this?

I am not sure how many of you spend considerable amounts of time in your truck? But I put on approximately 5000 miles a month give or take a few hundred. I do not have power seat or the adjustable lumbar support. My seat cushion is severly overdue a swap out. I have ordered the foam to replace what the cushion as in the TDR article. Have any of you bought different back/lumbar/butt/tailbone support items that have allowed you the pleasure of driving and not bothering your back and so-forth? To me there is alot of gimmick products out there. Everyone has something to "help"!!! Most of these items ar not cheap in price. Have any of you tried any of the "Relax The Back" (www.relaxtheback.com) products? What have you found to work good and provid you with enjoyable driving?

Thanks

Jason

I do up to 4500 miles a month too, average about 3500. I have the power seat with the lumbar and without it the truck would have been dumped a LONG time ago. Check with some of your TDR pals out that way and see if someone can help you find a stock power seat. That will be a huge step in the right direction, as when you start getting a little tender you can adjust the seat easily and get comfortable again.

I have also added foam to my seat bottom and seat back, to add support where I felt it would help. Basically I have added side bolster to the back and bottom, it helps keep me in one place on the seat and support my lower back.

If you add foam to the seat take your time and rehearse your favorite cuss words before you start. You are gonna need them to get the cover back on. It is a PITA.

Sorry I am not more help on the aftermarket stuff, what I did worked well for me.

I heard some truckers talking on the C. B. years ago and they said they take there billfold out of there pants when they drive so I try-ed it and have been doing it ever since. On this truck I put the lumbar as hard as it will go against my back. I messed my back up back in the 60s and have been bothered with it off and on but I do believe Monday when I go see the neurosurgeon about my neck(from wreck in 98) I will find out what is wrong with my back cause when he had me take another cat scan(to eliminate my problems are caused by the bleeding on the brain(wreck 98)I had)I asked him if they could do a MRI of my back while I was there, they already know my 7th disk in neck(I think thats what they call it)is putting pressure on my spinal column. Boy that was a mouth full:eek:So it looks like I am in for another surgery:( I have not looked at that site but I will.

LSMITH........

Do the trucks with the none power seats have to plug for the power seats?

ISHULTZ... ...

Not sure you could repeat that all again..... That was a mouth full!!!! I am sorry to hear about your back. I hope you can find something to help.

Jason, I am 99% sure yours does have the harness on the drivers side if it is an SLT trim level. I am not sure about the farm truck package with the rubber floor and crank windows type trim level. It should be fairly easy to find under the seat, probably under the carpet. There are four bolts under the seat bottom that hold the bottom to the seat frame. They come out in a minute tops and then you will have clear access to the area to find the harness.

If not all you need is a power wire and a ground to the seat area. You could run one easily in a half hour or less.

CumminsPuller now you are using your head:eek: You never know when you might feel some activity about to erupt:D When the urge hits you dump it.
