After my experience with the stock back up camera (via rear view mirror) on my Tacoma (which I don't tow with) I am considering having one (of some configuration) installed in the Dodge. Based on my experience with the above, I do like the tailgate handle camera eye location but don't know if this is even feasible. Have any of you guys added one to your rig or know anyone who has? Any reports/advice would be appreciated.

There is a seller on ebay that is reputable that has MANY different set-ups.
The store name is Camera-Source.
I have NOT bought from him, but heard that he sells quality equipment, not Chinese junk.

I wasn't aware that autozone had anything but will check it out. Ditto for the e-bay connection. Thanks guys.

I would stay away from wireless as the ones I had always picked up everyones 2. 4 broadcasts. It was neat at times to see inside stores but it was distracting. Also I never had success with water proofing the wireless cameras. Longest one lasted 2 years before filling with water. I found a hardwired waterproof camera at Costco a couple of years ago for $60. 00 and it has work flawlessly. Unfortunatly Costco dosn't show it on their site and a google search of the web brought up nothing like the kit I bought. Here is a link to the closest one I found and picture of my install. Good luck.

Thanks RAton, some of those appear to be a lot closer to what I am looking for. Two questions: Was the install a huge hassel and does it provide visual help in hitching up a trailer?

. 02. Back up camera in mirror vs separate screen. Had both in work trucks. Hate the screen in mirror, too small, and only comes on when shift lever in reverse.

Fiver,

I can see the hitch as I backup, but as the camera is off to the side it throws me off a little. If I hitched up more often I'm sure it would be easier. The wire run from back to inside cab wasn't bad. Hardest part was getting through firewall.

my back up camera attatches via the license plate holes, it's adjustable from straight up to straight down or anywhere in between, has a great picture and shows up on my head unit. (double din touchscreen. ) automatically when i put the truck in reverse.

Top of license plate looks like it will clear the trailer hitch when mounted, run wire to cab, hook up appropriately, mount handheld monitor where I want (or not), and I'm in business. Thanks all!
