Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Back up light switch

Have the transmission out of the truck for the dreaded 5th gear fix. Ordered parts from Quad 4 and am waiting on them but I have a question, the back up lights on this truck have never worked, where is the switch on the transmission and how do I fix it???

It screws into the driver side horizontally by the shift tower.

My backup lights quit working and I traced the problem to the b/u switch. Try to buy the switch from a auto parts store NOT from dealer. Dealer will charge you $65 (ouch!). Switch will be easy to change if transmission is out.

Saw that switch, thought it was the neutral safety but that clears it up.

Neutral safty on a manual is the switch at the clutch pedal. Autos are the only ones with a "neutral safty switch". I hope a new switch solves your problem.
