I have a 1997 Ram 2500 extended cab 4x4 diesel. My overload springs are sitting on the overload bracketts on the frame when empty providing a very rough ride. I think my springs are sprung and would like to get a new set. Where would be the best place to get good quality springs for a reasonable price. Dodge can get them for me for $550. 00 each. Is that good?

Thanks, Jim:)

I would also look into having the springs re-arched at a spring shop. Using a "add-a-leaf" would be a do it at home option. You could also get some springs from a newer model truck from a junk yard and swap them onto your truck.

My back end sags to, but I don't think anyone on here can, or wants, to help!:-laf I don't know what you do with your truck, but have you looked into Carli, Lorenz, and Kore as a possible option? Of course they would cost more, but the ride and control difference will be outstanding. I put the Kore Pace kit on my 97 and it was great. It did use most of the original spring pack except the overload, though.

Double check your rear hangers. mine suddenly got a sag on oneside took me a little while to figure out the rear hanger had rotted out. It made no noise your overloads may be keeping the pack from slamming the bed

A truck spring shop can easily remove, rearch, and reinstall your springs much cheaper than a new set. The same shop can also fabricate and install extra leafs or thicker leafs in your original spring set.

Leaf springs don't really wear out unless they break.

back end fix

Have you looked into your local the junk yard yet, I think that would save you the most money, Find the cheapest way poss. and stay away from the dealership untill you have no other choice. I personally look for junk yard parts first if it's a non-electronic part. Most junk yards now days are actually connected to each other through databases. So finding a part can be pretty easy esp. when dealing with suspention parts. Only problem is that you can't be really sure how many miles are on the part or how old it is. But it's worth a try if your short on cash. Just an option thought I wish ya luck!
