5ver Guys: How can I gain space between bed and 5ver

Camper tie down and wiring harness

He added some heavy-duty chain for extra support on the tailgate (note that he used the "Heavy-Duty 'S' hooks to attach the chain) He also paid-up for some BIG 5/16 sheet metal screws to attach the frame to the tailgate. Yeah, he knows it's overkill, but he didn't want the possibility of having an accident.

Much of his time was spent on his front porch whittling down that MASSIVE 4x4 board to fit precisely into the ball mount receiver. Also note that he used a 14" piece of 1x4 to help distribute the load more evenly--"YOU CAN"T BE TOO SAFE, YOU KNOW!!". " It cost a little more, but you just can't be too safe when pulling a trailer of this magnitude !!".

Look out Utah , cause here he comes !!!!

Wonder if he needs to adjust his headlights. :)

I would have "canned" the tailgate, and just used an upside-down 18" drop hitch (home made of course)!

I think I will discard my glasses, now I have seen it all! I would have at least used an equalizer hitch!

What I get a kick out of is every year the same pics pop up and the same people say the same things every year! :-laf

The sad thing is he probably wouldn't be bothered by law enforcement. I see examples of grossly overloaded pickups, cars, motorhomes etc... all the time around here. We have had articles in the local paper when there are bad accidents because of stupidity like that, where the UHP says there is nothing they can do because there are no laws on the books for this kind of activity on private vehicles.

Go figure.

I had two ladies pass me on the I-15 in Nevada headed back to their home in Utah towing a car on a trailer. I thought something looked funny ,and then I realized that they didn't have any tie downs. I guess they figured the parking brake and the cinder block behind the left rear wheel was enough. Good thing they had the block as the trailer was tipped up at the front from the hitch being too high.
