Hello all I have a 2013 ram 2500 4x4.

I recently have my backup camera stop working by either saying no camera or being really weird looking where it is unrecognizable.

mine is in my rear view mirror and I have slammed the tailgate multiple times, replaced entire rear wiring harness (old owner spliced 5th wheel plug rather than use OEM kit), swapped cameras, updated to current S/W, and even sprayed all connections, lastly looked at the tailgate wiring harness.

nothing worked or made it better... any help PLEASE.

Was the software flashed from the dealer? If so, that can cause issues. Before I had Alfa OBD and had dealer enable the factory remote start that I installed, camera grid lines were removed and didn't work intermittently! If you haven't invested in software to diagnosis issues, the Alfa OBD is a good one to have. Sounds like you got the wiring straight, only thing that could be issue is the video feed cable. I would double check that one out to make sure it's clean and tight. Good luck, keep us posted.

Probably goes the area behind the radio and then is plugged into and extension up to the rear view mirror.

On my 2015 there were connections inside the tail gate before it got to the camera. Have you removed the inner panel and checked those connections?

Yeah I checked all connections twice from the front harness behind the left front tire all the way to the camera.

All,

I think I figured the problem out... today I was about to go to the dealer but decided to just start unplugging connections under my dash (on the driver side, right to the left of the pedals) and I disconnected the two that were there for about 15 minutes came back and plugged them back together and my camera works perfectly fine.

No issues!!!

thank you all for your input!
