Any hints on a backup camera? Can I mount it to catch a look at my gooseneck hitch in the bottom of the picture? I've read all the stuff about angle of view, CCD, voltage regulator, etc. I will have to mount a screen somewhere, I guess on the dash. Any one have recommendations? Night vision is not an issue as I have driving lights mounted under my rear bumper for backup lights.

I just attached the screen on mine to the rear view mirror, had a small field of view with the topper and can still see out the center. Got the camera on the top of the topper too, next to the third stop light, gives me a good field of view.

Saw this on the TV last night. Home
It's a wireless portable camera with magnetic base. You can move it around for backing or hitching.

I have a wireless on mine. It picks up surveillance cameras and other interference. I plan to replace it with a hard wired setup.

I bought a wireless back up camera at Costco-80 bucks. It plugs into cigarette lighter and mounted to license plate. It helps for hooking up trailer but otherwise useless. Poor picture quality and debth of field.

Mary,

Check out the eBay guide to backup cameras linked below. Everything I read there seems to be true and I bought my camera from him and was happy with it. I have the REC nav system and had it modified by TVandNav2Go in New York, so I don't have a separate screen, but the camera is fine and the picture is good. It came with plenty of cable (enough to run it to the back of a long RV) and has the infra red LED's around the lens (they don't light up to where you can see them I learned) I'm going to put some back up lights under my rear bumper to light things up more.

Wow, that Agcam camera looks and sounds great but the $900 price I found on the web is a little high. Another alternative is the GenTex rearview mirror camera systems that Ford is using on all their new F150s. Still pricey, around $500 I believe but looks like it works easier with minimal installation needed. Someday someone will get it right and a system that's affordable and easy for everyone :)

I bought the camera addon with a Kenwood Nav/Sirius radio/7" in dash flip up screen. It's a small camera that I was able to mount within the trailer plug housing. I drilled out a hole (2" dia approx) for the camera to look thru. It's low but I can see the trailer hitch and everything else due to the flsh eye lens. Thought it might trigger some other ideas. I have been looking for a back up camera. the Ag one looks great but I can not spend that much. I did find this one that seems similar. Follow this link to SSBTractor. It does have a CCD camera. Anybody know anything about this?

I have the Costco camera setup. Works great. I have the camera set to a switch in the cab to monitor my load while traveling. Also works great for connecting to my trailer with the camper loaded. The wireless setup can get buggy depending on local interference. I find it entertaining to see what other people are monitoring with their wireless setup.

edit: monitor is mounted on top of my P3 Prodigy
