Does anyone have any tips/suggestions on how to replace the B/U L/switch on a 95 w/5speed? I can just get my hand into the area to unplug the wiring. I called a dealer today and the replacement part cost $72,.

I have ordered the white night lights from Geno's and it's in the mail but would still like to have the OEM work. I am tired of doing the bump-in-the-night reverse technique. :p LOL

Switch

The switch is a screw in type and looks to have hex shaped body, if you can,t get anything in there to remove it, might have to lower the rear of the trans. bg

reverse light

Changed mine a couple of years ago. Bought a replacement switch at NAPA. This new switch was the same size as the old one. So, whatever socket fits the new should work to remove the old. Ya, it is tight for room but doable.

FYI:

I have already retired a set of white knights due to corrosion in the harness and the metal that slid into the receiver.

Great lights but protect the wiring and grease or prime the coupler as best you can if you see salt as I do.

Thanks for the information!:) I have one now and I can see the size of the socket to use which makes it a whole lot easier. I have a mechanics mirror which will help on the R/R.

I have some special stuff for corrosion, it is called Petro Tape or Denso Tape, both are self bonding. I use it on my hyd. fittings on my fishing boat. You can wrap this stuff around anything and toss it into the ocean and come back in a year and unwrap it and it is as if it was brand new.

Need brighter stock backup lights

Hello fiends and friends. . I'm a new guy to the pack (Gas motor convert). I read somwhere in this forum someone mentioned "Real backup lights", but can't find the thread or any further mention IF there's such a thing as higher output backup lights that fit the stock plug??. . I don't really want to 'add on' extra lights just for this. . any advise?. . Thanks. .

I found my 50 watt halogen replacement bulbs at a local four wheel drive specialty shop. They had them in stock for close to the same price as JC Whitney, and no $9. 95 shipping charge!!

Pep Boys had the round base bulbs, but no listing for the push-in style.

The bulbs do help.

I'm also using the 50w bulbs from Whitney with a vast improvement. No problems but my local NAPA quit carrying a similar bulb because of complaints about them melting the housing and lens. If you like to back up for miles on end they might not be for you.
