I think the problem with the cry-slurr 99 is that the APPS is bad and has been out for along loooooog time . I recieved the other day CUMMINS bulletin # 3666480 This is for the 99 24 valve turbo diesel wiring diagram. It says that the specs for the apps should be. ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
Idle ValidationCircuit Resistance:
For ON and OFF-IDLE states
MAX Closed Circuit Resistance < 125 ohms
MIN Open Circuit Resistance > 100 K ohms
Accelerator Position Sencor coil Resistance:
Between supply and return wires
2000 to 3000 ohms
Between supply and signal wires ( released pedal )
1500 to 3000 ohms
Between supply and signal wires ( depressed pedal )
200 to 1500 ohms
NOTE: Released resistance minus depressed reisistance must be 1000 ohms.
I measured mine and pins 5 to 4 were 2K540 ohms
pins 3 to 5 idle 2K381 ohms
WOT 730 ohms
pins 3 to 4 idle 349. 1 ohms
WOT infinity
Pins 3 to 4 after awhile read 349 ohms it took quit awhile before it read !!!! so this is suspect.
On pins 1 to 6 the return, to idle validation idle signal was infinity (open cct).
Pins 1 to 2 read Return to idle validation off - idle signal
idle 3. 72 meg ohms No continuity at all !
WOT 3. 64 meg ohms No continuity at all !!
With these readings the ECM can't tell that the engine is being told to advance the fueling ??? THis could be the reason that this gutless wonder is sooooobad ??? I get nooo turbo boost in 2 nd gear @ 2600 rpm and 4 to 5 lbs boost in 3 rd gear@ 2200. I have little descrepency between pre and post cooler pressure.

When accelerator pedal is at idle , the idle validation switich 1 should be on and switch 2 should be off. During acceleration switch 1 should be off and switch 2 should be on . Whhen the FPCM detects these ccts changing states, fuel delivery is changed and certain diagnostics are allowed to run at ilde.
I have measured 3 BRAND NEW APPS OUT OF THE BOX AND THEY MEASURE NOT TO BAD FOR THE ACCELERATOR POSITION PINS 3 , 4 , 5 BUT THE PINS 1 , 6 ARE FROM INFINITY TO about 400 ohms on pins 1 to 6 instead of the <125 ohms and Pins 1 to 2 meg ohms to 2k512 ohms .
{Could anyone who has the 98 to 00 ??? measure the apps in their truck and let me know }for I am very curious if this is a underlying problem on the engine missing , stumbling problems. I suspect that with the measurments that I have done so far that there are a GREAT NUMBER of the APPS THAT ARE OUT OF SPECFICATIONS FROM THE FACTORY.
