I've had this truck just 2 months now and really like it, did a little 4 wheeling in death valley lot,s of fun. anyway as anybody had the welds come loose at the tailgate, mine is right side near the gate hinge and behind under neth the bed it seems to be the what I'll call the rear pillar post. the previus owner pulled a 5'er theres a hole in the middle of the bed ... Chris

Never heard of the bed getting cracks in the welds unless there was a heavy load in the bed. I have heard of several reports of this happening to people that have had the Happi-Jak camper tie-downs used to hold their slide-ins. Are there any tie-downs on the bed?

no camper tie downs just the 5th wheel hole and 4 bolt holes around it, it appears it was atached to the bed only it may have caused welds to sepeate, the welds don't look as deeply penatrated as they do on the left side, anyway my son an expieranced welder and machinist say's we'll fix it stronger than ever... Chris

Nice to have an experienced welder in the family. Just to be on the safe side, check the welds on the bottomside of the bed as this is where most of the broken one's that I have heard of begin. Sounds like the 5th wheel mounting system is to blame. After you fix the welds, you might want to consider a spray-in liner such as the Rhino or the Linex, and the repair will never be noticed.
