When ever it is damp outside, as soon as I start to move ,if I step on the brakes the back ones SNAP on to full lock. I don't even have to drive thru any water,it is as soon as I start to move when it is damp,They instantly lock if I just touch the pedal. What the heck is it??

if it's not an oil leak due to a leaking wheel cylinder or axle seal then it's glazed shoes. mine did the same thing until i change the shoes about 100 k miles ago. no problems since then. if your shoes still have some life left you can use some emery cloth to de-glaze them and the drums.

Well, mine may be glazed....

but I have the same problem as you most winter days. I get "around" the problem by applying the brakes for 3-4-5 seconds while applying power to scrape the rust off of the rear brakes, first thing when I take off. They seem to function normal for the rest of the day. Moisture from the day before is the culprit im my estimation.

I do not have leaking wheel seals or brake wheel cylinders.

It's due for inspection anyway so I guess I'll pull the wheels and check for glazing. That's probably it because after I stop a few times it is allright.

Thanks.

JKH---The problem is called morning sickness--actually it is moisture sensitive lining. It is a verrrry common problem now that we don't have asbestos lining material anymore. If you can live with it it won't cause a problem otherwise change the rear shoes. I don't like to name brands but some are worse than others. ---Sam
