Bad connector in driver door

My friend has a 2016 ram 1500 Hemi. 70 k no warranty The lights were coming off on on different electrical gremlins. Took it to local dealer 235$ per hour. Found bad corroded connector that had leached water /salt from floor board $8 k bill is that possible. What should he do.??

He thought his car insurance might pay for it. That was wrong. No truck for 4 weeks now . Should he just try negotiate a lower price then pay it get truck back and file a claim.? But with who ?

Not enough information. What wiring are they replacing? Can it be repaired instead? Water can migrate down wires, but I have to think you could replace every harness in the truck for $8k.

Well the end story. Dealer charged one hour labor. He bought a 12$ can of electrical cleaner and some inhibitor. Used an old tooth brush and cleaned them up . Removed carpet and mat . Dried everything out good. Good to go now
